But, without the play-in games, Iowa would not even have a chance at the traditional dance this year. That said, ya, kind of like putting lip-stick on a pig and polishing a turd calling this the real tournament.
This is precisely why we need a W tomorrow.
There's always going to be an argument about the tuesday-wednesday games ... let's do what we should have done weeks ago -- end all debate, and play friday.
But, yeah. If we don't end up playing friday, that debate will rage on (until the next time we make the field of 64).
Bottom line -- this shouldn't matter. If Iowa is mentally there, they should win. Tennsesee doesn't appear to have beaten a team of iowa's (earlier) caliber all season. If we aren't mentally there, we can't beat anyone.
The way i see it -- iowa controls its destiny. but, that's been true for a couple weeks, and we haven't gotten it done. Alas, I still have faith. I think we get the W tomorrow and erase all doubt that we ended the drought.

No doubt Iowa could/should win...but when you have been as lethargic as they have in the last month...it's hard to see that being turned around in a few days...

Does the terminology really matter that much to so many people. I want to beat Tennessee. Then I want to beat UMass. Then I want to beat Duke. They're all basketball games. Can we agree on that? We want Iowa to win as many of them as possible. Right? Go Hawks!

This guy is a loser. Calling out Mount Saint Mary's and talking about nobody caring. Then he goes on to talk about another team in 1995 and the run they made. They don't make that run without some teams losing. Why isn't he calling him out. I think Gregg Doyel needs to fall in a well and see if anybody cares about him.

Obviously not.
Let's say Iowa does do everything you want; all of those wins will be tarnished because Iowa played in Round One/Play-In.
