Don't blame the players this debacle is 100% on Fran.

We have seen and we know the potential of this team. This was truly one of the best teams in the nation early on. This is not the same team. Something has happened to this team, it is a house divided and there is no chemistry.

This is a little cliche, but I believe the depth has become a curse to this team and has become a barrier to building team chemistry and unity. I think Fran has completely ripped the confidence out of some of these players the biggest being Basabe. Here is one guy that can do a lot of things on the block on both ends and yet he has the short leash.

Terrible job by Fran this year.

This disaster was a total group effort, but I agree that Fran has done about as bad a job coaching as I think could possibly be done.

This was his year to make a statement, and he made one - "I belong at a mid-major school!!!!"

Plenty of blame to go around, but I agree that the coaching staff definitely has some explaining to do. Given the amount of talent on this team, easily the worst coaching job I've seen since the 2001-02 season.

I have lost basically all respect for Fran. He has basically told the fanbase to f*ck off several times. Especially the mccabe situation.
He has made his bed as far as I'm concerned. The macho bravado bullsh*t out of him is played out. He does not know how to use his players, nor timeouts, nor defense. He has basically screwed up everything he touched. Can anybody name something he's done right?
With that said I do wish his son and their family the best and a speedy recovery.

The coaching is atrocious, but the players are the ones on the court, and this trainwreck is under their ownership.

Honestly with all the stuff going on with Fran and his family... You would think the players would come together to support their coach. I'm honestly shocked at this. Something is flat out broken in the program right now.

I agree. With the T-shirts tonight I thought there would be unity and inspiration. Kinda like the Chris Street game last year.

When did Fran give that caller over the phone hell over the mccabe comments? Then mccabe made that stupid "tweet" towards the Iowa fan base. Anyone remember when that all occurred? Maybe it's just a coincidence, but that seems to be the time Iowa just started to fall.

Which season is 2012-13? Which season is 2013-14?

What stands out that would cause anyone to think that with the same returning cast that was just out of the NCAAs and would be a B1G title contender and final four possibility?

Brought up a couple days ago. Most people thought after the Indiana game got rescheduled. IMO his suspension and keeping his anger under control seemed to distract him from focusing on coaching. Big communication problem, I think Dakich nailed it on the head tonight during the game.

Really hard to believe how far things have fell in a matter of weeks. From "Fran is the Man" T-Shirts and I can't wait to read his pressers to maybe he is not what we thought he was going to become.

We keep saying it, but Fran really needs to get this team to perform at the acceptable level of an NCAA Tourney team. If not, he could be heading the way of the Lickster in a year or two, but only at a much faster pace.

Coaches get too much credit when a team wins and too much 'hate' when a team loses. Sure, they are responsible for the rotation and which players are in.

But at the end of the day, the players make the plays and our team just isn't making them. Terrible defense, horrible offense, and just 40 minutes of bad basketball. It's easy to point the finger at the coach, as he should be responsible, but I think Fran is getting too much of the blame. Look at the stats...look at the starting lineup box score. The players aren't making plays.

And frans ******* is the one who makes the big bucks and puts them in those positions. He gets to wear the cool joseph A bank suits then he takes some blame too.

Didnt sparew say at this point in the season the team isnt really practicing anymore..... Hmmmm maybe we should try something different fellaz? Derp? Like practicing??
Whos fault is it that we have 0 offensive plays... How can that even be in div1? I love that awesome "trap" full court "press" fran is fond of....what a joke its becoming

Below is what I said after the Wisconsin game and I hate to say it but I was close. The Wisconsin game was the key game. Win that and the season ends pretty good. Lose that and the season will go down the drain. It doesn't matter what seed they get, they have 1 more game to play. I hate to say that but sometimes the truth hurts.

2/28/2014-Simply put, this team will not win another game. It has nothing to do with the coaches. When they lost the Wisconsin game, it killed their confidence. Same as when the 2012 football team lost 2 players in 3 plays against Penn St. I have not watched a game since Ohio State loss, but this is just the way Iowa sports are. I've been following them since before Hayden Fry and Lute Olson. They underachieve more than they overachieve or meet expectations.

Why not they are the ones out there playing like they don't even care if they win or lose

the senior leaders are not leading

part of that is a management problem on the part of the coaching staff

part of that is an attitude problem on the part of the players

fran's system depends on cohesion -- the interchangeable parts only work if they cooperate and buy in. that hasn't happened since twittergate.

Teams learned that Iowa has ****** defense. Teams learned that Iowa's offense isn't all that good in the half court. I learned that, other than Marble, there really aren't any athletic players on this team.

Fans want to get rid of McCabe (who is a mismatch offensively with the jump shot but can't defend or rebound) with Uthoff (who is a mismatch offensively with the jump shot but can't defend or rebound).
Iowa's roster is filled with players who have skills and lack skills.

Here is where I fault Fran: he wants to run a system best suited for athletic players. What he needs to do, now, is recruit those athletic players to run his system or change to a system best suited to the present team's talents.
