If you havent seen or read about what many are calling a very 'unseemly' way to use taxpayer money the Dept of Defense pays NFL teams to have a salute to a veteran at halftime of games. What is really unseemly to me is the frigging billionaire NFL and its owners actually taking the money.

I am sure this is a DOD recruiting PR campaign and the NFL and NBA and MLB , maybe hockey but it is canadian by origin, should just be glad to do it free of charge and let the DOD use the money to take care of vets.

The crowd at the game is a captive crowd and the TV audience is pretty much also so come on sports teams just do it out of the kindness of your hearts.

And you surprised by this? There is a reason why Roger Goodell made 44 mil. in salary and compensation last year and despite the PR nightmare of last season he was never in any real danger of losing his job. Remember they wanted Katy Perry to pay to perform at halftime of the Super Bowl she said no, but you know at some point they will get the musical acts to pay for the "free pub".

Bottom line, it is about finding new revenue streams sometimes it is tasteless and cringe worthy, but it is business and as great as the television money is........it is probably not enough.
