Do you think IA's offense could put up 20 on the IA Defense?

This doesn't really mean anything but it made me wonder: how do you think Iowa's Offense would do against Iowa's D? Do you think that Stanzi would pick apart the zone defense and Hampton would rush over a 100 yds or would Stanzi constantly be put under pressure with our young O line and make bad decisions forcing the running backs to take over the game? Personally I think in a scrimmage Iowa's offense could put up 20 pts against our defense. Tell me what you think the numbers would be.

No. They would not get 20 points, and I think the Defense scores against them.

Predictably, the biggest problem is that our D-line is the best in college football and the O-line is a question mark. Even if the O-line proves to be solid, they would be handled by this D-line. Therefore, no run game or pass protection offensively.

I see the offense needing to throw the ball, but Sash and Greenwood finding INTs.

Interesting question to ponder. If the Offense CAN score 20 points, we should win the National Title this year! It would be the toughtest D they would face all season.

I don't think they would. DJK and McNutt would create some matchup problems for our secondary, but we wouldn't be able to move the ball on the ground and Stanzi would be running for his life.

I think the bigger question is, can the Iowa offensive coaching staff beat the Iowa defensive coaching staff in a game of Jenga?

I think if they played and the second team O was on the same team with the #1 D. There would not even be a need for the O as the D would outscore the first team O on their own.

I think they could, but it would completely depend on Stanzi. He has strung together limited success against Penn State who plays roughly the same defense as Iowa. The key to defeat Norm's defense is a patient, smart and mobile QB. Hopefully we see that 13 times this season out of the Manzi.

It would be very close. Our O is very good this year but our D is KickA$$

How do we know our O is good this year when they haven't played a snap yet? They do look good on paper, but we don't know how the O-line is going to gel yet. Not trying to be a pessimist, but let's wait and see before calling them 'good'. They were the 10th best team? in the B10 when it came to offense last year so they've got to show me something first.

I think if it were last year, the defense would win 7-0 (due to a pick six by Sash).

If it were this year, I'd predict 2-0 defense late in the fourth. Or 3-0 offense in triple OT (since it'd be really hard for a defense to score in OT)

I dont think the pick six would have came from sash. If you look back last year the majority of the pick sixes came from when Ricky threw in the Flat, so i think that it would have been Spievey for the pick 6

just don't know? I need to see this offense in action first. A better question is what would the 2002 offense do against this defense?

I think that Iowa's WRs and TEs would be able to keep the D honest ... however, the pass rush would still get to Stanzi ... and I anticipate that Iowa's run D will be wicked-hard to move the ball on.

Would Iowa's O be able to get 20 points? Early in the season ... no. Later in the season ... possibly.

Parker's defense is designed to stop the run so running is futile (even with an experienced o-line). Pass the ball. Use a spread-like offensive scheme against Iowa's defense and you have a better chance. The big question: would O'Keefe use a spread-like offensive scheme?

This. If a team is willing to dink and dunk their way down the field, you can win against our defense. That's why Northwestern and Indiana have given us a considerable amount of trouble the past few years. They WANT to dink and dunk, while we FORCE most teams to do it. We'd be better off playing more aggressive, and taking away the short passes against NW and IU, and force them to take shots down the field. With our pass rush and safety play, I'd like our chances like that.

So if you are willing to do that and can execute, you're in pretty decent position to put up points on our D.
