Just a random thought for the upcoming season.

On one hand you could make the argument that we don't want Cook and Wagner hanging out around the 3pt line. We want them hit the offensive boards. We have our stretch bigs in Uhl and Jones.

On the other hand, if they can hit 3s with any regularity it should bring bigs out on them, who they should easily be able to dribble by.

FWIW, I voted no for now. I think for this year they should focus on hitting the offensive boards and playing D. If they continue to develop their shots, maybe they can down the road. Their strokes do look pretty solid though from what we've seen in PTL. I know I won't complain if they go in. :)

I think it depends on whether they can consistently hit the three like in the PTL. If the can, then they will either get open looks as the zone won't be able to cover everyone if all can hit the 3. If in man D the bigs will have to come out and cover them which will open the lane for any of our others to drive with less traffic in the lane. Or if they put a smaller player on them to help guard the 3 point line, they can then post up and score inside more easily. I think it presents more problems for the defense if we allow them to shoot from the outside. Again this is dependent on consistently hitting the three point shot.

Cook and Wagner can still play good defense and hit the defensive boards but we would need more of a team effort on the offensive glass.

I want guys attacking the rim, getting to the foul line, getting guys in foul trouble.....We're athletic enough to do that...

I agree if they an consistently hit the three they should take the shot. Williams, Jok, Moss, ect. all don't seem to be afraid to go inside to rebound. Williams especially seems to enjoy rebounding. It would be nice to loosen up the other teams defense. If they can consistently hit the three that should help in recruiting too. I don't think Wagner or Cook were highly regarded three point shooters coming in, but they were guys that played the role their high school coaches wanted them to.

I want all Hawks to " Just Slam It Down and wipe Your Freaking Smile Off Your Face," dunks. If they can't figure this out, they can watch Darryl Hawkins videos.

If they can make them, absolutely. That said, at this point until we know who is going to red shirt and get a better idea of what the rotations will look, like it's difficult to tell. In my opinion, I like having at least 4 capable 3 point shooters on the floor for spacing.

I think that's what we will mostly have this season. Even if Wagner and Cook don't shoot the 3, Fran has Jok, Uhl, & Baer that have proven they can all hit the 3 ball and we can all reasonably assume they will be playing a lot of minutes. PG is going to be covered mostly by Williams and Bohannon. Throw in Jones getting minutes at the 4, Ellingson and Moss getting minutes at the 2, and you are looking at limited time for Wagner and Cook to be on the court at the same time together. So I guess my thought would be that we don't necessarily need them to be able to shoot the 3; if they can, that's just an added bonus.

Don't forget Dale Jones. He has a great stroke.

That's kinda where I'm at. I like big man rotations of: Cook/Uhl & Wagner/Jones or flip flopped with one shooter and one athletic rebounder. That gives us 4 3pt threats on the court at most times with occasional minutes where Cook and Wagner share the floor.

He certainly does and that's why I mentioned he'll get minutes at the 4, which in turn will limit the time Wagner and Cook are on the court at the same time together. ;)

That's pretty much exactly what I'm thinking the rotations will look like for the most part.
