Do We Deserve To Be Ranked Next Week?

A couple losses to good teams and a big win on the road. Are we currently a top 25 team, or do we need another quality win first?

The answer is no! We still haven't beaten anybody. The Tar Heels are a vastly overrated team. They will be lucky to finish in the upper half of the ACC & make the tournament. The Tar Heels have huge problems. Reputation is the only reason they were ranked in the top five to begin the season.

I don't think so, not yet. But, if we beat UNI and ISUx, then we probably will. I just don't want this team to get anything they don't deserve. I got the feeling last night that this team relates to the underdog or overlooked team role. I only care that, if they make the NCAA's, that they get a very fair seeding. Otherwise, I don't want them to be ranked if they aren't deserving.

Having said all of that I think we'll get into the top 25 and probably remain the rest of the season, if we sweep UNI/ISUx

They were vastly overrated last week. I wouldn't say they are vastly overrated at 15th.

I would say no now. 20th if we beat isu. 15th-18th if we don't lose again in the non conference.

I honestly don't care if we're ranked or not. It just means so little. I want teams we play to be ranked though.

If they don't lose to Syrcause they would be ranked next week. If ISU keeps winning and Iowa beats ISU and UNI they will be ranked.

We aren't likely to beat both UNI and ISU. ISU is a top 15 team and UNI is solid. So if we split the games, we still get a quality win...are we ranked then?

Perhaps not. We have to beat both of them. If we beat ISU and lose to UNI, we won't be ranked. If we beat UNI and lose to ISU, we won't be ranked.....

I like the underdog aspect for the Hawks.....

Play like you have a chip on your shoulder.....and just get after it....Just like last night....it may have been ugly, but for some reason I saw some beauty in it as well......;)

Maybe they deserve to be ranked, but it won't happen this week. They didn't receive any votes last week. You can't make a jump like that with one win.

Heh, he he he......ha ...hahahahaha....gasp...HAHAHAHA ...hahahahahaha....snort.....HAhahahahaha... oohhh. Thanks. I needed that.

I see the logic of your arguement as I assume your logic and the logic of many others on here is based on reason and fairness. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out here in college sports that don't play by the rules or on a fair playing field. We see that especially true in football. They want to rank their conference teams as high as possible so that even when they loose to their conference foes it doesn't hurt them as bad in the rankings. If a top five team loses to a top ten team then they only fall a few spots in the rankings. Where as if a top five team loses to a unranked team they could fall out of the top ten or top fifteen.

Coaches and sports writers of course want the teams in their conferences and regions to look as good as possible. Virginian Tech would be a good example of this phenomena. Every year they have this team ranked high and by season's end they have lost their usual four of five games and are not ranked anymore.

So now that one of their basketball darlings took it on the chin last night against our beloved Hawkeyes don't be surprised to see IOWA get some sudden support in the polls. It's a form of damage control.

At this point in the season, I don't really care whether we are ranked or not. And, I frankly don't think there is enough evidence right now to rank Iowa...or probably half of the teams "ranked" in the top 25 as it stands right now. Yawn.
