Dish Network vs. BTN inside story?

After weeks of getting conflicting stories on whether Dish would continue to offer BTN, I finally got an email from both today saying they had agreed on some sort of long term relationship, so since I already have Dish and all the gear, also I know how to use it already, I am going to stick where I am for now.

Does anyone know any of the inside details on this dispute? I doubt either of them are being entirely honest about what was going on, and frankly I don't trust Dish to keep BTN permanently, as in for a few years at least, but I hope so. Would love to hear more details. Go Hawks!

Their previous contract expired. BTN wanted more money from Dish to allow them to keep carrying the network. Dish didn't want to pay more. Offered less than what BTN wanted. BTN said no. Lawyerly backing and forthing. Couldn't reach an agreement. Reached a temporary agreement. More backing and forthing. Reached another temporary agreement. more backing and forthing. Channel went off Dish Network for a week. More backing and forthing. Compromise reached. New deal signed. Both sides declare victory.

And we pay even more money to watch our beloved Hawkeyes... With the B1G in such decline this year, we should be getting money back from the BTN. NOT a hefty increase. We got gyppped!

I'm not sure what you mean by permanently but no cable company carries any channel permanently. Cable providers sign contracts with the different companies that own the channels and when the contracts are up is when the disputes start.
