Dienhart ranks Davis #1 returning receiver.

Good god the B10 really does suck. No offense. I like KD but seriously?? KD is the best the B10 has to offer??

Yeah, no kidding. Someone who had over 700 yards receiving as the number two option, while playing half the season injured, is the best in the B1G? That's pathetic!!!

Keenan has the best numbers of any returning WR in the league,so this makes sense.
Vandy has the best passing numbers of any returning QB in the league,so this makes sense.
And K-Mart is among the best returning WRs yardage-wise,also..so this makes sense.
Add in C-Fed,Derby,Hamilton and Duezy,and you have some weapons for Davis' short passing attack. Add in rbs catching the ball out of the backfield and a slot guy ,and maybe Shumpert...the Iowa passing attack will be the best in the league.

I was watching College Football Live on Monday and they featured Michigan who is their #10 ranked team,and Herbstreit was saying that D-Rob was bailed out a lot last year by throwing up jumpballs that Hemmingway went up and got...he is gone. Roundtree is smaller and not similar to Hemmingway. Herbstreit says they lack big play recievers to bail out D-Rob this year. They all also agreed that Michigan's d-line is going to be a problem...sound familiar. They agreed that Bama was going to gouge that d-line in their first game at Jerrys World.

I think all the top Legends teams...Neb, MSU ,Mich..have significant flaws. Iowa could just be a sleeper that sneaks up on some teams and ends up playing for the division on Black Friday.
 
Earlier this week, I posted Dienhart's Backup QB list, and everyone thought he was an idiot. Now he knows what he's talking about.

I think this says more about the B1G than it does Keenan Davis. KD is a solid B1G player...who hasn't yet even had the pressure of performing as a #1, and yet he's the top returning WR in the whole conference?

Simply stated it's a down year for returning WR's.
 
It a down year with receivers returning certainly, but if Davis and KMM can show consistent hands and not drop so many balls, there is no reason Iowa won't have the top passing attack in the league. I think the offense is going to be pretty good.

I really think you will see some three TE sets and we will force teams to the line of scrimmage to stop the running game. Think about it...CJ, Derby, and Hamilton are all pretty big guys. I like the matchups on linebackers, safeties, and corners. If we can run effectively with the "jumbo" package, the passing game will get a boost as we have tight ends that can get behind people.

I can't wait to see the offense develop...they certainly have potential.
 
No offense to the last poster, but there was some talk on here last summer about running 3TE sets and burying teams with our beast O-line.

I don't think our offense will be bad, but I'm not holding my breath that we're suddenly going to average 40ppg. I think the truth about both Keenan and our offense as a whole falls in between the superlatives and the naysaying; they'll be solid but not record-breaking.
 
I like Davis. I think it will be interesting to see how he does without the other team having to focus on McNutt
 
Coach-speak during spring practices had lead me to conclude that the Iowa coaches had seen more from KMM during practices than from KD.

Abbrederis from Wiscy is the returning WR in the B1G who consistently wowed me in 2011.
 
Here's some optimism for you:

If the BIG is this weak at WR this year, might be a good time to gamble a little bit and play with 7-8 guys near the line depending on the situation, especially since Iowa's defensive backs are certainly looking to be a strength this year.
 
The biggest thing that helps every Iowa offensive player is that KOK is coaching in Miami. That being said Davis is better and will a better pro career that McNutt.

I agree that there are a lot of areas that we could be surprised this fall. I don't necessarily think we'll see 3 TE sets, but maybe lots of 2 TE sets getting all 3 TEs snaps. I'm excited for fall days in Kinnick!
