Did Urban Meyer lie?

University of Florida coach Urban Meyer feeling better, staying involved - ESPN

When i first heard this I thought he was done coaching for good. Now i am wondering if all of it was simply BS. Hard to believe that you go from quitting your job to some time off and finally to now having the same workload, minus the traveling.

I am really wondering about Meyer and his character these days. Thoughts?

He was up to something, it appears. I don't know how this would have benefitted him, however. It will be just one more thing to recruit against.

I dont think he lied. But I think his family is probably realizing, if this holds and he does come back, just where they stand.

"I know I'm dealing with some stuff, and my family comes first. That's never been an issue. That's non-negotiable, that I want to make sure I do right by my family. My second family are my players and our staff, and to see that was the moment. I went immediately to Jeremy, and we had some discussions after that."

What does Urban Meyer really want? - ESPN

That lasted for all of 3 weeks.

He's middle-aged, has physical problems, kids are entering teen years and/or leaving the nest, he's wondering about the time investment he has had & hasn't had with them, loves coaching football.

But for anyone to say he doesn't have priorities in his life straight? I suppose mote-removal is easier than log-removal.

And a liar? About this? C'mon.

Obviously the guy is conflicted about life decisions at his mid-life check-up. Who doesn't?

Might just be more BS to keep the recruiting class in line til signing day...I wouldn't read much into anything he says before then.

Regardless of the fact that he is back, it probably hurt Florida's recruiting one way or another. I very seriously doubt it was a stunt. The program already had the attention it needed.

Its so absurd whats going on, you couldn't make this up. The guy claims he's working too hard as a football coach...so he's retiring.....how about let the assistants do their jobs and help take some of the work load off. So after a day of retirement he claims he'll be back probably to coach the season but is taking a leave of absense...DURING THE OFFSEASON. Earth to URBAN MEYER...its called taking a vacation! Plenty of dead periods when he can't be working with current players or recruits. So 3 weeks later he's back to full duties...just not officially. Glad this stuff was so news worthy we all had to be kept up to date on it by espnsux.

Classic type A personality. He wants to walk away but cant. This guy is dealing with some serious issues. I think he relized he needed to quit. Than everybody in the program and his family said, hold on wait a minute. Think of the recruiting class and the money you are giving up. From what i have seen and read, I guarantee if he does not just walk away and take a break. Urban Myer will die at an early age.

I don't think he lied. But at the time he was probably putting in 16 hours a day, seven days a week. he is now at the a part of the year where, when things calm down, and he does not have to work near as much, so that helps. His name and florida sells them selves, so he doesn't need to travl a lot on these last few days before signing day. I think the true test is when it comes back to august...what does he do? does come back full time? If he does, then he doesn't give a hoot about his family, and he is being selfish to them.

I was thinking about this earlier. His children were ecstatic to be "getting their daddy back" so how must they be feeling now? Abandoned? Unloved? Still playing second fiddle to a game?
