Did they ever say what was wrong with Ricky Check-down yesterday?

All of us in section 137 couldn't figure out why he wasn't seeing all of those open receivers in the secondary? Was he sick or something?

hard to make a pick when you dink and dunk all game

I think we moved the ball because the OL had a great game

We had receivers get open quickly many, many times only to wait until the DBs recovered and Ricky to throw an out to Reisner or hit A-Rob for 5 yards

25/37 for 258 yards, 3 tds and no picks.

Only stat that matters is the win column, and I'm sure Ricky feels the same way.

Overall his pass efficiency was great, but it's not fantasy football value we're talking about. Key 3rd down plays, making sure to not get sacked with couple minutes to go, and failure to take advantage of excellent pass blocking were definitely some areas where Rick could have done better.

No one on the team is safe from criticism after this lost, too many opportunities were giving away.

But me myself, puts more blame on defense. I'd rather see growing pains for Micah Hyde occur during practice, not in the red zone see him get sucked in on the PA more then our line backer group.

I was only responding to the OP who seemed to think he was missing all of these open receivers and must've been sick.

Statistically he played well, but this wasn't one of his better games. He was like a pitcher who is wild within the strike zone. He seemed just a little bit off for some reason.

Iowa likes to run those deep crossing patterns that take time to develop......maybe he felt more comfortable going to the safety valves instead.

When he said missing open receivers, he didn't mean over/underthrowing them. Granted, I spent large portions of the game watching through the lens of a camera, I could still see DJK and McNutt come open on several deep routes (especially in the first half), right as Stanzi checked down. There were some plays that were left on the table on that front. But I'm still happy with how Rick played, and I think he'll see those plays on film and make the proper adjustments.

how do you think Wisky beat us yesterday and why NW gives us issues....its because they dink and dunk....its a sure way to beat our defense

And you did nothing to address my point

and the opportunities were there, yet he kept choosing the throw it underneath rather than take a chance
7 Y/A is far below his season average ... take away that long TD to completely uncovered DJK and it's under 6 Y/A
despite what you see as a good game, his QB rating was 30 points below his season average so far
my point was that he didn't look like himself ... he wasn't taking advantage of single coverage, or guys breaking open before the safety could help

You need to re-read my post if you don't think I addressed your concerns.

You're one of those people who want to rip on him because of the last 12 seconds of the game. Outside of that he had a solid game.

**** the last 60 seconds ... I'm talking about Q1-Q3

were you there, or watching on TV?
I can't count how many comments I heard from neighboring fans wondering what was wrong with Ricky, so I am not alone

I am not ripping the guy ... I honestly think there was something going on, but we'll never know

He's not even talking about the last 12 seconds, but way to try and undermine what he's saying by taking an unsubstantiated jab at him.

Yeah, whole game and he had his usual solid game with a lot of very good throws and a few that weren't. He felt fine and played well. Don't take a lot of stock in the casual fan's observation. Reading posts after a loss should tell you just how much most casual fans understand.

such as yourself

ooooh dig

regardless, the WRs were open on many of those plays that he checked down to A-Rob & Reisner

I believe it was last week's game that the announcers said there were a couple times that Rick checked down too early. So it's not just casual fans who have noticed it from time to time.

On the other hand, I'd rather he checked down too early than too late.

I didn't notice that last week (it's hard to tell on TV because you don't see the secondary until the ball is in flight), but it definitely surprised me this week ... previous home games Ricky was not afraid to go deep vs 1-on-1 coverage

A buddy of mine at the game said the same thing that he missed a bunch of open down field receiver. I don't know if he is afraid to throw long or what but when he does he is pretty good at it.
