Did Barta cook his goose?

I've heard that Ferentz and Brands both liked Lick a lot. Sure they aren't the AD but those are not people you want to tick off. Couple that with the Iowa women probably making The Big Dance later today and the timing seems bad. Bluder can't be happy if this 2:30 press conference comes out and indeed does fire Lick. Isn't that sort of a slap in the face to them?

I just think this thing was handled pretty poorly and the coaches at Iowa cannot be happy with the communication here.

People can't have it both ways. Many wanted Lick gone and wanted Barta to act quickly. Then, we he does, he may be ticking off other coaches at Iowa. It seems Barta can't win in this situation?

But can Bluder be happy with how this was handled? Same with the other coaches? I know they understand you have to win but how it was done can't sit well.

The bb program is not pulling it weight, putting a strain on the other programs financially. When the bb team averages 10,000 empty seats, it drops millions in revenue, which eats into the other programs budgets. You think KF likes having football tickets continue to get more expensive?

I have full confidence that KF, TB, and LB all know how to keep separate personal and professional issues.

As to LB, she would likely want this story to die down ASAP. The fastest way to do that is to address it.

I am sure they like Todd. He is a nice guy. However, they are also all too aware that this is business, and they know the situation over there.

I have friends that I work with too, doesn't mean if they get fired for lack of production that I am going out the door with them.

What kind of relationship do you think the football coach and basketball coach have anyways? Common sense kind of says that they don't spend much time around each other, since they are both very, very busy people, they work in different departments, buildings, etc.

I m sure they are friendly with one another, but I doubt they are going on vacation with one another.

How exactly is this "supposed to happen"?

when coaching changes are made, it is never easy or seamless. Iowa is doing what it must, to let Lickliter's coaching future twist in the wind for another few days or week would only amp up the speculation and the rumors.

Iowa is walking away from Lickliter only in the sense that they are removing him as the coach. My guess is they will have to pay him all of the buyout money in his contract. As I've said elsewhere, the program was falling apart due to the transfers, and my guess is that Barta found out that more defections were on the way. That level of incompetence in managing a program left Barta no choice.
