Did anyone notice the play clock expire on NW's last TD?

Disclaimer, i'm not blaming the refs, they did blow, they were downright horrible but

this loss is clearly on the coaches and the players, how you don't get up for a 2nd straight road game against a road team who has owned you the last 5 years is beyond me and unacceptable. This team lacks heart, they had the big 10 title in their sights and have lost 2 out of 4 and should have lost 3 out 4.

On NW's last TD the time clock expired, i was at the game yelling for the flag, no flag, td, persa down. Now i'm fully aware the way the D was playing if they throw the flag, cart persa off, the cold QB off the bench probably gets NW into the endzone with less time on the clock and puts us out of our misery even earlier.

I don't think i can bring myself to watch the game again, but....Bad calls
1) no call on the play clock expiring
2) NW's first TD drive Clayborn gets tackled on a completion, no call
3) Multiple ball placements where the guy on the iowa side of the field is closer, spots the ball, but then the line judge from the other side of the field moves it 95% in NW's favor.
4) DJK's no call pass interference, right after Morris was called for PI on the previous NW drive, the guy wasn't looking and ran into him.
5) DLineman getting held, hooked, chopped all day, no calls.

again, iowa lost this game because they are Iowa, and they are who they are and if you let a team you should beat stick around all game even a d bag like fitzgerald can see tape and know our tendancies and take advantage.

After a long drive back to DSM i'm still grumpy, but i don't think i'm overreacting

I was screaming about the play clock hitting zero.

I'm not watching the game again because it'll just make me upset again, but I would love to see if the play got off in time.
From my seat in section 102, I thought it was delay of game.

Ouch... did not notice on TV. Don't even know if that is reviewable, but if it is, and this did happen, it opens a whole 'nother can of unacceptable "game management" worms.

This is a nightmare, in football terms. Only good thing, is I've reconnected with a bunch of buddies on the phone, crying over our proverbial beer. That is the power of Iowa football, right there.

Peace my brothers and sisters... here's to everyone getting a decent night sleep.

On espn.com if you go to the game breakdown they show the play and the clock is at one when the ball is hiked (on their clock) but i guarantee you at the game, the play clock in the end zone, right in front of persa was at zero long enough for it to hit zero and for us to yell for the flag before he hiked it.

I deleted this POS game from my DVR as soon as it was over, so I can't be certain, but I do remember one play late in the game, when NW was on our doorstep. Pre-play the ref blew the whistle and did the one armed burrito bump (to reset the play clock) and then blew it live again. I'm not sure if this was the same play or not...it would be the referee that did it (the guy that lines up behind the QB).

I also swear that their D-End was lined up in the neutral zone when he got his sack on the last drive. One of many, many calls that we got screwed on.

That said, if you play so crappy that you let the officials determine the outcome, you haven't done enough to win.

I think I remember hearing on a telecast (of a game a week or two ago) that the play clock on the field is not 100% accurate. The officials have their own watch or something, and the play clock on the field is to give teams a good idea of how much time they have. Kind of like the yellow first down marker on TV: not 100% accurate, but it's a good approximation.

I believe the back judge keeps the official game clock, but not the play clock.

The officiating yesterday was atrocious. In particular, I am perterbed at the ignoring of holding of Clayborn in the first quarter & a similar tackling of Klug in the 4th...both times the Ref was looking right at it & ignored the infraction...

This. +1.

Unreal. Just terrible officiating.

The holding WAS out of control and obvious. NW does not score on that first drive if the Clayborn holding is called. Plenty of pass int also to go around as well but ignored. Oddly officiated game all the way around.

If you watch other coaches, they are in the ear of the refs all day long. Our coaches ask the refs how their families are doing... Question calls...that would be unsportsmanlike...

Guy hit DJK a full second before the ball got there on the Hail Mary as well. Ball should've been placed at the 2 for one last play.

Refs were awful and no, not the cause of the loss but certainly didn't help.

You may have been at game but was not even close on last play snapped it with 1 second on clock plenty of time.
