Diamond Offense!

While I prefer pro style formations to spread offense, I really liked the Diamond offense OU used and think that would be a good formation to run out of to mix things up a bit, we still have our same base offensive personel, a TB - FB and and TE/HB and two WR's so its not like you have to subsittue in a whole new group of players, you can still run the same basic power runs with the zone blocking scheme, should actually give more cut back lanes with the opportunity for more mis-direction and you now have more passing downfield matchups getting the WR's in more one on one coverage on the outside. You've got the FB and TE in the backfield to help with extra pass protection of the edges if needed and can swing the TB out in a variet of situations or screen passes. Not saying this should be the full blown offense, but imagine the confusion you would create for the D by motioning in and out of the formation. This would also allow us to run a power formation the the TE and FB and then get into more a speed formation next year with AROB/Jewel/Coker in the backfield at the same time, etc.

I know this wont happen but a guy can only hope........

Dude, put down that crack pipe. The stuff is not good for you :)

I do like their offense a lot. I almost like it more than Iowa's. And like you said it is primarily the same personel just in a different formation.

Guess what else is cool , but make sure your sitting down they put that offense in a couple weeks ago. That is right a mid season adjustment with a brand new formation, and oh wait an eight Conference title under HC.
