This is why Beth needs to hit a homerun. Just hiring some coach just because money limits our choices, then how are we not screwed already? Maybe the Drake coach will be wonderful. Then again have we forgotten the so called hot coaches that pissed down their legs in the Steve and Todd show???

This is not just about getting the fan base excited but even more important is getting the wealthiest hawk fans behind the choice and inspiring them to put up some major bucks. Is that going to equate to a coach who has never been the head coach of a power five conference team? Even a lazy internet slouch like myself can point a finger at Ben.

If it is Ben then I will hope for the best but it is really rolling the dice at a time when Iowa basketball has never seen a crossroads like the one we are at right now.

What had Fran done the last two years to even remotely secure his position? I have nothing against Fran, but after 15 years defense and rebounding were still not a top priority. He snuck in to the 15 team BigTen tourney with a win against Nebby on the last game of the season this year and missed the NCAA tourney the last 2 seasons.

We can say they struggled due to youth and NIL, but he built the roster. We can also say that we had issues with injuries this season and no depth behind Freeman, but guess who's still ultimately responsible. As I said I have nothing against Fran, but how much worse did things need to get before enough was enough.

There were a lot of empty seats that were paid for by season ticket holders. I would guess the vast majority will continue. Now, damn it! Come to the games.
