Depth Chart for Purdue Game

IKM was hurt Saturday. That he's on the depth chart means when it was constructed, he had a chance to play at Purdue.

We'll get a better idea of his status as tomorrow's press conference.

Stanley still starting, there goes that.

What did you expect? nate is like 14-7 as a starter, not great but not bad, that is the same as 2 8-4 seasons, and a few of those losses were due to bad pass stats and that is on him and the team, a few losses are on more of the team than just him.

Mansell in his brief stint against Maryland had one pass play called where he rolled out and had a receiver open by 5 yards about 20 yards down the field and he couldnt pull the trigger.

Some people say the same thing on the cluster f##k call on 4th and 10 against penn st just before the half. It was said Fant if not another receiver were pretty wide open but Mansell couldnt or didnt want to throw it. I wouldnt think he is ready

Do you?

I’m not out of line saying Stanley has issues with confidence and nerves. He’s openly seeing somebody to help with it and he’s discussed it. I sincerely hope he gets over it and gets his head right.

But, you can’t trust him in a game that matters. He panics and stares guys down, he produced 0 points last week and if he had produced 7, just 7, we win.

Purdue is a big game, we can still win the West. I anticipate Stanley will perform how he always does in these spots, not well. So yes, I’ll take a guy who may do well over the guy I know won’t.

I cant remember how long the drive was that resulted in the fake FG TD pass to Sam Brinks but Nate lead that drive so the offense gets credit for that score in my book. It was a pass play which is an offensive play. And the offense did drive to get a fg. I may be splitting hairs here. He was way off last game but he had improved his completion percentage by about 6 % from last year.

I am definitely thinking the coaches might give him a rest if he is off and then bring him back in but you do remember 2012 when Vandenberg took every snap and got smashed all year long. If Rudock wasnt redshirting that year he should have got some reps but KF is stubborn,

yes, you are splitting hairs. it is a special teams TD.

i've not been one to bash Stanley's completion percentage last season because he was coached to throw the ball away to prevent turnovers and sacks. That seems like it was anywhere from 4-5 throw-aways a game. Add in Fant's 2 drops a game plus 1-2 drops by the WRs per game. That adds up.

This year Fant is still dropping his 2 balls a game (hoo, boy. that was unintended) and the wides aren't dropping as many (looking at you WR/SM -- Stanley is not dumping throws like he did last year

Now, he's throwing them to wide-open defenders.

Safe to say we don't really know what we have at MLB. Last week (PSU) it was Welch on line 1 and Jones/Hockaday were sharing line 2. Now, it's Welch/Hockaday on line 1 and Jones on line 2. I would love to have time to watch the game again, focusing only on the MLB play because I remember on two plays in particular against PSU Hockaday made some really head scratching reads that lead to TD's (PSU's backup QB TD run and the long TD run by McSorley) out of essentially the same alignment. It seems like it's on par with some of the errors Jones was making in game 1 that lead to his benching...

Thank goodness we're starting IKM. I don't know what I'd do without that 10 runs for 35 yards and a fumble before we're allowed to see Young or Sargent.

Sargent should be starting, based on yards after contact. But IKM probably blocks better in the blitz pick ups. And I expect to see 6 or 7 players at the LOS on every snap. Maybe 8.

I don't think I'll ever understand a DC that doesn't choose to blitz Nate Stanley on every down. And I'm not talking about 1 guy. I'm sending anywhere between 6 to 8 guys at the LOS on every play. Run or Pass.

You may get that soon. Paddy and Northwestern blitz us as much as anyone in the conference. I remember an article previewing Iowa and Georgia Tech in the 2010 Orange Bowl. They interviewed a Northwestern defensive lineman in a column entitled "How Iowa Can Lose" (They also had the opposite column on how we could win). Anyway, the lineman said that they always wanted to bring more defenders than we had available blockers. As often as possible.
