trying to figure out why we are bad at defense.

option 1) we are small down low so our guards have to sag a lot to help and give up open shots outside.

option 2) we are not athletic enough at the guard spots to get out on shooters.

option 3) we dont communicate well enough on help and screens.

option 4) our coaching staff's deficiency is coaching defense and we are ill-prepared.

which do you think it is and hopefully we can fix it a little this year and completely next year.

I'm hoping Woodbury can play defense. That's all I will really want from him as a freshman and if he brings that it will help a lot. We have no inside presence and we get beat off the dribble a lot. We're also not good at rotating at all.

That isn't a good mix if you want to keep teams from scoring. I also don't think I want to see zone any more unless it's just thrown in occasionally to mix things up.

-Lack of quickness in guard play
-Lack of size on the inside and no real good interior defenders (Mel's shot blocking was the only real threatening thing going on)

-Coaching......I hope this is not the case and with our recruiting class coming in our team defense will improve. Iowa should be a "long team" as well as a taller team with our new recruits coming in.
