It has been two disappointing games and some are jumping ship but I will still watch and pull for the hawks.
Some reasons are below.
1. I like watching our defense. They played really well and gutsy with hustle. You know they gave up a FG(/TD from the review) on a very short 20 yard field after the Goodson fumble (goodson slammed by a Dee Tackle who wasnt blocked) and they got their other TD on a short field after the INT for a short field after the pass rush crushed Nate.
Penn St was able to get too much yardage on first down so in hindsight maybe Phil Parker will need to dial up some gap run blitzes/with secondary pass blitz on first and second down to try to get a negative play.
And when a team has their fast receivers in the slot mismatched on our linebackers it might be time to get that 5th defensive back on the field .
2. I want to watch Goodson and others develop like on his long run. Maybe see the Off Line get it together and get some wins. If Banwart and Schott can get healthy maybe the guard play can improve.
3. It is fun to watch Smith and ISM make some nice catches. That was a once in a longtime catch by Brandon Smith for the TD.
4. Watch hustle plays like Toren Young go to the ground blocking in the backfield and get up off the ground and run to the action downfield where B Smith catches runs then fumbles the ball only to have Young recover the fumble. Super hustle.
5. And I guess when you watch and listen to the hawks since I have from their greatness of the late 1950's through 19 poor years then you stay with them.
