Dee Brown takes shots at Bruce Weber?

Weber is done, not that he is a bad coach but Illinois needs to make a change. He has obviously lost this team and it has way more talent then the results they are getting. They basically gave up against Nebraska.

Yep, agreed 100%. I have seen this coming for several years and it's finally starting to come to a head..

Weber honestly hasn't done much since Bill Self's talent graduated/went pro. Illinois has won only two NCAA tournament games (both 1st round wins) since that run in 2005. They have also missed the NCAA Tournament completely twice in that time, and it's looking like this year will make it a 3rd time.

Like you said, the level of results they are getting with the amount of talent they have is unacceptable.

That team has done nothing but under acheved for the past couple of years. Except when they play against the Hawks. I hope they keep Weber. I kinda like the dicection he's taken the program.

And even then, the time frame you're talking about, it's more because Iowa has been terrible than a case of Illinois waking up and playing to their potential.

That house of cards is crashing down. Football may be the premier program on campus now.

While the basketball program might be crashing down a new coach can quickly change that. The last couple of recruiting classes have been really good and the state of Illinois is a recruiting hotbed. This job is going to be extremely attractive to the current top mid major coaches. Once they make a change the basketball program will still over shadow the football program.

Illinois Basketball is a sleeping giant.. We can only hope they hire the next Ron Zook, rather than the next Bill Self, to coach their program.

Well, many have said Webber was a similar hire to Tom Davis. Let's hope their nex hire is similar to Alford or better yet...Lick.

I totally agree, thought I better take a jab at Illinois b ball while the opportunity is there.

They both took over teams with great talent but that is where the similarities end. I cannot ever remember a team quitting on Tom Davis like they have for Weber.

But speaking of Lick, I can't help but wonder if Illinois will not make a run at Brad Stevens.

I don't think Brad Stevens is going to be dark enough to get that job.

Or stupid enough to take that job. Most the blue blood programs in this country have coaches in their 60's or 70's. He should just stick around at Butler until one of the old timers kick off.

Not really. Crean is 46, Coach K 65, Calipari 53, Ben Howland 55, Roy 62, Self 50. I don't think Coach K or Roy Williams is going to retire in the next five years. The UCLA job might open up soon, maybe even after this year, but outside of that one the rest look to be filled for the foreseeable future.

Stevens definetly has earned the right to be very picky, but mid major success can be very fleeting. Butler has regressed a lot this year, as was expected, but if they go a few years without a deep NCAA run some of his shine starts to wear off. Illinois is a solid job, and has been a good stepping stone for several coaches on their way to better jobs. If he wanted to jump to a program like that I would hardly call it stupid.
