December games for Illini vs. Wisky

I could see Iowa and Minnesota doing this too. KF likes the Thanksgiving break and it's gonna be cold whether it's late November or early December. Plus students would be back on campus.

I thought the Big 10 had some sort of rule that the conf. games had to be over by the end of Nov. Guess I was wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think illannoy holds the dubious distinction of losing football games and generally sucking in the months of August, September, October, November, December, and January.
:D

When did Frenso St join the Big Ten?

I think he meant actual conference games in December and not conference teams playing non conference games December.

You are correct. Thats what i meant.
Idea:
If the Big Ten has no such rule, why doesnt every Big Ten school schedule an extra bye week during the season, and have a full slate of CONFERENCE games in December to compete with some of the other conference's "championship weeks".
Hopefully someone out there knows if the conference has a rule about CONFERENCE games being played in December.

Up until a few years ago, the Big Ten required conference games be finished the weekend before Thanksgiving.

A few years ago the Big Ten allowed teams to negotiate with each other to move games beyond that date. In fact, Wisconsin tried to get Iowa to move their game back because they had their bye week in the final week of the season and didn't want to be done with their schedule in the 2nd weekend of November. But it didn't happen.

Starting this year, the Big Ten officially changed the dates and games are scheduled through Thanksgiving weekend. They are still open to negotiate schedule changes for the 1st weekend in December. Wisconsin and Illinois agreed to do that with each other for 2011 and 2012.

Sorry, December is not football season. November is cold enough. Remember last December's weather? No thanks.

They don't seem to mind in the NFL. And they do it all the way through January and some of those are at night or late afternoon. At least the Big Ten games would be early games. It wouldn't be that bad.

Thanks for your insight!

The cheeseheads will love playing that game just to have the privilege of having a game in December in Wisconsin...Now Illannoy will throw in the towel by the end of the half...
