Maybe. Maybe Iowa just played really well.
Funny thing is that Big 12 & their fans has been touting their league toughness by huffing and puffing about the conference RPI. After the game last night, I saw numerous internet posts and tweets stating that UAB was a much better team than Davidson.
Well Big 12 fans, Davidson's RPI was almost 100 spots better than UAB!!! (35>129)
I hate the RPI myself but you can't use it to justify one thing and ignore it in another...

Great point about the rim and the lane. It took about 5-10 minutes but then the hawks just owned the game

This was yet another cautionary tale of what happens if you do not have size and true bigs. This is why we need to get a bonafide big that can protect the rim with this last scholly for next year to spell Woody if he needs a break or is in foul trouble.
Just see Davidson, Michigan, Indiana, etc. for examples of what happens when you have no true bigs.

LOL. The Big 12 lost 4 of 7 teams against the following teams;
Albany, Buffalo, UAB, New Mexico St, Georgia St, Butler & Oregon.
Butler & Oregon were legit and they lost those match ups.
The B1G with much poorer seeding than the vaunted best conference in America won 5 of 7. If Purdue had not choked in the final minute it would have been 6 of 7.

Bilas, Obama, ESPN, Bleacher Report.............who else was guaranteeing Iowa would lose? The last thing I want is Obama's support but if all those others jump on our bandwagon, and you know they will, I will just LOL.
Tired of the old B1G cliche, and I saw it on Davidson forums and other bb sites. "Iowa is too slow, too clumsy, can't jump, not quick enough, can't shoot, blah blah blah". 83 points and a 31 point beatdown say different.

I think it was awfully clear that Davidson was out classed last night. Combine that with the fact they were stone cold from three point range and it wasn't much of a game (they would have had to be really hot though to stay in that game).
After watching Gonzaga, if they play like they did last night against you guys, i'd give you guys a real shot a winning that game.
Anyways enjoy the win guys -> you never know when the next one will be.. so just enjoy it

Davidson = Exhibit A for how you live by the 3 and die by the 3. They had no size or athleticism, at least not enough to really hurt us off the dribble. The 3's weren't going down, and they had no other options.

Yep, I think in our case, everyone who thought "big" meant exactly what you just said, but the big guys Fran recruits tend to be the long-n-lean types.. Iowa is more athletic than most gave us credit for.

Gonzaga is going to be tough and they are the media darlings. This will also be a de facto road game. We have to play lights out. Not sure if we can beat them.
I take offense to your last comment. We do need some cyclone fan thinking they are all high and mighty telling us to enjoy this win. We just broke a 14 year drought so we know full enough what this means and how special this was.
Why do you not spend your energy tweeting Niang and tell him to spend less time blowing kisses and more time focusing on opponents like UAB.
