In a recent interview, when responding to questions about where he stands with Iowa, Bell's response was interesting...

“Iowa has to prove they can actually throw the ball,” the 4-star 2019 wide receiver told Land of 10’s Ryan Donnelly on May 10. “In previous years, they’ve just been a run team.”

That statement can be taken a couple of different ways:

1. He's still reasonably interested in Iowa, but wants to make sure that our offense opens up this season, which could be interpreted as a positive, or,

2. He's just being diplomatic, and his overall impression of Iowa is negative from a WR's standpoint, meaning we've become more of an afterthought.

My take is that we probably are on the outside looking in at this point, but, if our offense opens up in a big way this season (not exactly great odds there), he might do a double-take and put us back in the picture. Either way, I would probably put our odds of landing him at around 10%.

Do you have a link to the interview?

If he made this statement, then I think his statement proves what top tier WR's REALLY think about Iowa's offense. he is flat saying "I'm on board with Iowa if they can prove I'll be utilized." otherwise, we don't stand a chance.

there you go, kirk. cat is out of the bag. well, i should say validation to what we all knew already.

Well, he ain't gonna see the WRs utilized this year like he's hoping. Even if the offense is opened up, it's going to be opened up to the huge mismatches we have at TE, not WR. So what he's going to see, most likely, is a more pass oriented offense than previous year, but skewed towards the TE, not the WR....

Well that's easy enough to work with. You just tell Mr Bell that if we had a receiver worth the weight of our TE's jock straps then we would throw to them. That is exactly why we need a kid like Bell. He thinks to himself man all I got to beat out is some TE's. That should be an easy sell.
