David Barrent??

I am not typically one to cry over spilled milk, but maybe just this one time. I wonder if Mr. Barrent ever has second thoughts about backing out of Iowa and going to MSU. I never understood that one, despite the connection with his dad and MSU.

I'm sure he's fine with his decision...he went to a decent program. The one recruit I'd like to get inside the head of is Michigan's punter...Will Hagerup, he was down to Michigan and Iowa (may have been another team in there, can't quite remember) and picked Michigan over Iowa because of their "great tradition"...that he's not a part of...

He's on an 8-1 team so I'm sure he's fine with his decision. The only time I get upset about recruits that back out of their commitments is when they do it very close to signing day. If they do it early enough so we have an opportunity at getting a replacement, it's fine with me. But the one's who do it 5 days before signing day suck.

Didnt he end up at MSU though because he thought Iowa had some ethical concerns at the time or that was a reason they floated around.....MSU playing a guy straight out of jail seems legit though to me

That probably factored in, it was during the "Summer of Discontent" after all, but his family has ties to MSU so it wasn't a big surprise that he ended up there. We'll never really know the whole truth, but it wouldn't surprise me if he picked Iowa, then got talked out of it by his father after the arrests kept coming.

On the last MSU series of the game when Steve Bigach got his sack Barrent was in the game and started a fight in their endzone.

I think he made a mistake, but when you are 8-1 vs. 6-2 he probably doesn't second guess himself. I'm sure he doesn't like losing to Iowa every year nor worrying that his head coach might retire or expire because of his heart.
