Darboh After Michigan Visit...

The questions being asked didn't exactly leave the chance for anything but glowing remarks.

"Was it even better that you had hoped?"

The interviewer probably would have driven to Darboh's house and stabbed him if he hadn't said it was great.

I was at a 4th of July party and Darboh was their with a family. I did not realize it was him at first. His friend's mom pointed him out to me and told me was going to play receiver for Florida.

I don't put too much stock in it, as there is a long time until signing day. I just don't have a good feeling on him becoming a Hawk.

Come on Hawk fans ... just calm down a bit.

Of course Michigan has a lot to offer ... so, of course, Darboh ought to be duly impressed.

However, Iowa offers a lot too. Since Soup has taken over, the level of Iowa's WR corps has really seemed to be on the upswing. Furthermore, I'm willing to bet that both McNutt and K. Davis end up being draft choices after their time at Iowa.

Furthermore, as we all know, at big games the environment at Kinnick is absolutely electric ... easily comparable to the experience at the Big House. Furtheremore, it shouldn't hurt that Campbell is one of the bests in the biz at what he does ... as is Chris Doyle ... both being the coaches Darboh would be around the most.

Lastly, I'd like to think that proximity ought to count for something for us. Besides, from what I understand, Darboh actually cheers for the Hawks. I just hope that he's also a big fan ...

What about Keenan Davis makes you believe he will be drafted? His recruit ranking? Because the guy has not done anything at the collegiate level. I know DJK had legal issues, but if his production couldn't get drafted, Davis should not be holding his breath on day 2 of the draft.

DJK<6'1
Keenan>=6'2-6'3

DJK didn't have elite speed either, and he wasn't the most sure handed receiver I remember him having the "dropsies" at points

And I am not saying DJK couldn't catch a cold, it's just if you're "too short" you better have some other tangibles the NFL likes, and the whole being a "student of the game" was put into question with the drugs, How much is he really committed to football? That is a question they would ask themselves.

Point being, teams will look at Keenan and see an NFL body with decent hands and athleticism....if he produces....definitely a draft pick.

Gotta agree with this. Not saying he wont but he's got a long ways to go.

The best thing Iowa has going for it is Erik Campbell. I'm sure the recruits just love him. Seems like a cool guy and obviously a great coach. Remember, he successfully recruited both Keenan and Arrington.

Of all things, I give recruiting ranking very little stock. Here's what makes me believe that Davis will end up getting drafted:

- Internal buzz coming from the program.
- Davis has already flashed brilliance when given the opportunity. He looked great when he came in for McNutt (when McNutt was dinged). Furthermore, from the spring scrimmage, he clearly has made great strides.
- Davis has a nice combo of NFL size, speed, and athleticism.
- Soup has a MO of developing guys so they get down the basics as underclassmen ... and then they subsequently get much more significant action as upperclassmen. Davis is currently just "following the program."
- Davis hasn't gotten more early reps because we were really laden with talented veterans. In other words, his lack of reps WASN'T due to any deficiency in talent ... it was just because he was lacking experience.
- It's not a stretch to believe that Davis's development-trajectory won't be pretty similar to McNutt's ... and McNutt is DEFINITELY going to be NFL bound.
- Davis already has a really good chemistry with Vandenberg. It's a huge advantage when you already have that chemistry with the starting QB.

Of course, I'm assuming that Vandenberg and Davis both stay healthy over the next two years. Furthermore, I'm assuming that OL keeps on playing that the level that they've been at over the past few years. If these assumptions prove correct ... then I'd be SHOCKED if Davis doesn't end up being a draft pick. Mind you, I'm not saying that he's guaranteed to be a high draft pick ... however, I'm willing to bet that he'll end up being a draft pick.

DJK still caught the ball like he was a QB. He never got to the point where he'd be successful when battling for the ball.

So I read somewhere that if we landed an in-state prospect that was his close friend, it would help with darboh. Was that Malloy or was it someone else? I can't remember.

I dont know why people read this interviews....have you read one yet and had the kid say to the interviewer from the school he just visited that his trip sucked and he hated it?? Its always fluff and will be fluff.
