So the number 7 Big Ten team will play on New Years Day, WTF?

Here's the final draft of the Big Ten's new bowl lineup, beginning this fall:

No. 1 team: Rose Bowl/BCS vs. Pac-10/BCS, Jan. 1
No. 2 team: Capital One Bowl vs. SEC, Jan. 1
No. 3 team: Outback Bowl vs. SEC, Jan. 1
No. 4/5 team: Gator Bowl vs. SEC, Jan. 1
No. 4/5 team: Insight Bowl vs. Big 12, Dec. 31
No. 6 team: Texas Bowl vs. Big 12, late December
No. 7 team: Dallas Football Classic vs. Conference USA or Big 12, Jan. 1
No. 8 team: Little Caesars Pizza Bowl vs. MAC, late December

The luster of the Jan 1st game is long gone. It has been gone for many years actually.

Now it's getting to a BCS Bowl.

I totally missed that. WTF indeed.

100% agree. I guess it's another way to spin a "new years day bowl"...that used to be a big deal when they were all the meaningful games. It really hurt things as well when the other crappy bowls starting playing after new years.

It doesn't really matter what day the game is played, any knowledgeable fan knows the prestigious bowls from the pretenders. The Papajohns.com Bowl wasn't suddenly a good bowl just because it was a post Jan. 1 bowl this year.

I have no problem with the game being Jan. 1. Dallas wanted to bring back a traditional New Year's game back to the Cotton Bowl (stadium) after the Cotton Bowl (football game) moved onto the Cowboys new stadium and a post Jan. 1 date (will be on Jan. 7th this year).

except for the rose and little ceasar games, all the other games are against the sec or big 12. Am i the only person in the world that is sick of those teams? Wouldn't mind checking more acc teams or big east teams once in a while. The same old teams get boring after a while.

The Dallas Football Classic rotates between the Big 12 and Conference USA. This year and the 2012 season, the Big Ten will face the Big 12 and after the 2011 and 2013 seasons the Big Ten will face Conference USA.

Actually, I guess that new Cotton Bowl date is good for the B10, since maybe people will like the tradition of a game at the Cotton Bowl Stadium on the 1st??? Except it will regularly feature the Gophers

Just discovered this game will be played at 11am on ESPNU. Interesting that the Big Ten has a deal that no regular season games can be on ESPNU, but has a bowl game that will be on that channel.

With the Outback moving to Noon Iowa time, this will be the 1st bowl game of the new year now.
