Criticizing a recruits decision

I was thinking on how people react when a recruit either decommits and/or decides to go to a another school jooining late in the recruiting process... although it's disappointing, I think people need to really think about their situations and what would they do if the roles were reversed.

Using the job scenario... if a person has a particular career path in mind, what path would you expect them to take? There are many avenues one could take, but mostly they are going to take the path that best fits their plans for themselves and their families - it might be $$, it might be location or even a company in a better position to promote them. I dare say that very few of us would hesitate to jump jobs and even less would condemn someone for pursuing their dreams.

Sure. The company they are working for might be and do, often times, get upset... but it's all about what fits best for the person. How is that any different for a recruit? As I said before, it's disappointing, but if we truly look at ourselves and the decisions we make, we are no different.

Agreed. Just because Fran was in on him early, doesn't mean Ullis owes him anything. He needs to do what he thinks is best for him, and apparently that is playing at Kentucky. So good luck to him, I don't think it's a great fit for him, but he does, which is all that matters.

Not here but on Twitter, some Iowa fans ripped into him pretty bad, some even got racial.

I hate hearing stuff like that but there are idiots in every fan base that do stuff like this, I imagine there are some classy MSU fans ragging on him pretty hard as well. This is the ugly of social networking sites.

I don't recall anyone criticizing Ulis for his decision.

Happens quite a bit... Here's an example of a more recent one:

Re: We have 4 schollys and 0 verbals right?

As soon as KY offered he knew exactly where he was going to go. He and daddy lobbied for the KY offer. When that happened it was game over. Everyone knew it, yet he still vomited the same bullish!t about family atmosphere and relationship with his head coach. When you go out of your way to make a statement or create an impression with no intention of fulfilling, that is considered being misleading. Worst of all he turned his back on the guy that truly believed in him.

Good God, that is shameful. People like that make the rest of us look bad.

How is either one an acceptable form of behavior?

First of all I don't consider that post unacceptable and, secondly, I have seen plenty use this forum to vent frustrations. But spewing crap at a 18 year olds twitter account is creepy.

Calling out a teenager for not picking your school is pretty infantile. Fortunately, these are a couple losers from amongst thousands of fans.

I remember folks being upset that Cesar Guerrero picked Okie St over Iowa. Looks like we came out on the better end of that deal.

This is ridiculous. That Twitter is a dangerous vehicle when it allows the dumbest and meanest of the idiots to say whatever they want to whomever they want. The very least they can do is leave off the #gohawks so they don't drag the rest of us down with them.

I won't criticize the kid for choosing Kentucky. Heck, it's his life and he has the right to make the decision and live with it. On the other hand I will say screw him if he doesn't want to be a Hawkeye. I believe that's my right.
