Crappy weather Saturday; Iowa v MN baseball indoors Metro Dome

Looks like the Gophers have moved into the Hump full time, they only have one game scheduled for their on-campus diamond this season, along with one game at Target Field. Quite the unique situation for northern teams, lots of home games early in the season. You'd think that would be a big advantage for them.

Their on campus stadium (Siebert Field ?) was condemned I believe so they can use the field for practice but not the bleachers etc

My friend I and I took 5 of our kids and they had a fantastic time. All three of the younger boys got baseballs. 1 foul, 1 from an Iowa player and 1 from the MN 3rd base coach which was really cool. My son was standing in the front row along the rail in the vicinity of 3rd base and the Gopher coach tosses him a ball. It was signed and it said "Thanks for coming!" My kids were decked out head-to-toe in Iowa gear.

I watched most of the game yesterday. Not a fan at all of having no dirt other than the pitchers mound and home plate, it looks like a softball game set up.

I watched the game yesterday. I got the impression the only reason they used their on campus field last year was because the dome was being repaired from the snow that damaged the roof.

I would say it's probably a pretty good recruiting advantage for Minnesota.

1. Full time in door facility
2. On campus field for games/practice as weather allows
3. Chance to play a few games a year at a very nice MLB ball park (Target Field)

It's really odd to watch college baseball being played in a MLB setting especially with the new bats. The OF seems to be playing very shallow and all the empty seats look odd.
