Cox lost for the year

Where is your link? Wasn't Plewa (?) the better fullback because he seemed to be able to catch and run out of the backfield?

I'm not a FB expert, but I thought both guys were pretty capable at the position. Both guys were good, and this means less depth at the position. However, with the "H" back position; this may not hurt as much.

Unfortunate for Cox. Great kid.

That having been said, if this offense is still seriously dependent of a fullback...

They could move that one guy who used to play fullback for Air Force. the transfer kid, I can't remember his name. This stuff is tough.

Sarcasm? That is of course an option they can use with Weismann. Might be fun to watch him in the backfield with two other backs at the same time.

Cox had a little more success with the ball in his hands last year, though neither got a lot of opportunities (Cox 4 carries, 16 yards, 3 catches 51 yards; Plewa 1 carry 7 yards, 3 catches 21 yards). Cox looked like a very natural ball carrier, and I was impressed by how well he blocked considering his size (he was probably around 210 lbs last year). As mentioned, he is also a great young man, and an excellent student. Best of luck to him in his rehab; I am sure he will be impressing next fall.

Ya....who is that guy anyway? Wouldn't want 2 guys in the backfield who can run well now would we.

Don't know if anyone has seen this but Ferentz seems more down than usual about injuries. Hopefully that ends pretty damn quick.

I've like plewa since seeing him at open practice in DSM last year. He really pops the pads, quite tall too. I think we are fine

IIRC, I think the majority of Cox's rec yds came on one play. I believe he had a 30ish yd rec vs LSU.

I still think both backs were pretty equal; and thus the splitting of playing time.

KirFer definitely sounds very concerned about the injuries thru camp thus far. I would think it likely speaks to being able to establish depth, find good combinations (ie. line positions), and get the units to establish cohesiveness to put together a "well oiled machine" to start the season.

Perhaps it's minor or short rehab type injures, as I don't recall hearing a whole lot about different injures (aside from Cox and Powell (hernia)).
