Couple thoughts regarding the lack of offense

I was thinking about some of the offensive dry spells this Iowa team has been going through and had a couple thoughts.

First, it doesn't seem that Iowa is getting the open looks it had been last month. Woody is a great passer and has a couple moves he has been successful using around the hoop. It seems like Woody spends a bunch of time setting screens on the perimeter. But he is not a great pick n' roll or pick n' pop option. Also, wouldn't it make more sense having your 7 footer near the basket for rebounding purposes? I'd like to see Woody in the post more than setting screens at the 3 point line. Also, would like to see more passes to him in the post. Defenses may collapse on Woody when he gets the ball inside, opening up our shooters on the perimeter. If they don't collapse, Woody is capable of making a play as well.

Second, along the lines of the above, why not have Uthoff/Uhl/Baer setting the screens for Gesell on the perimeter. They'd be much better pick n' roll and pick n' pop options. Teams may also be more hesitant to leave Uthoff in particular to hedge, which could open up more driving lanes for Gesell.

Just a few thoughts.

Very good ideas, one thing it would be a change in the offensive sets that the opponents are looking for, and it may open up more drives to basket with the other gus setting screens
