Could MSU be Arrested for Assualt and Battery?

Typical IZZO crap. Can't win playing without roughing up the opponent so start fouling to start the second half until the referees put away the whistles. Those referees let the game get out of hand and McCabe obviously had enough of the crap from that little weasel Thrice. The inconsistency of the crew tonight was atrocious. Is Iowa the only team that gets called for moving screens? McCaffrey must be wondering that. I can't tell you how often Payne got away with moving screens and using his off arm to push off a defender.

The Big Ten has got to do a better job of selecting officials. I go back along way and it got out of hand to the point that Minnesota and Ohio State got into a player brawl that got people hurt about 40 year ago. It was getting close tonight.

It was brutal, they were chest bumping our ballhandlers from the opening whistle and doing their usual grabbing.

I think what MSU does is brilliant. They didn't play well on D in the first half. They came out over aggressive to start the 2nd, got called for a ton of fouls, discovered the ref's line between playing very aggressive and fouling, and then tight-ropped that line the rest of the game.

They do a better job of adjusting to ref crews than anybody in the B1G. They find out what they will be allowed to get any with and constantly pushing that line.

Get over it. This team needs to get over it as well and figure out a way to win.

They don't tight rope any line. They came out grabbing and pushing and forced the refs to quit calling it. It's actually a full proof strategy. Worst case scenario, refs call about 5 fouls on the first couple possessions (like they did) then the crowd and izzo will get on them repeatedly and force them to back off. Best case scenario is they start calling tick tack fouls on Iowa to help keep the fouls even (which they did).

Think about it. We can't even touch them without getting called for a foul because they are mugging us on the other end. The refs can't call 50 fouls in a half so they have no choice but to give up. Like I said its a full proof strategy and it would work 100% of the time.

Stop complaining about officials. It was only valid after the loss to msu in the tourney last season!

MSU got overly aggressive the entire second half. The refs noticed it and called a bunch of fouls early. After that MSU either played equally aggressive without fouling (miraculously) or the refs simply gave up on calling them. Which one do you think happened.

Aren't you proving my point that it was a good move on MSU's part? They know its going to work, so they employed the strategy. As you said, its "full proof".

Players and coaches need to adjust to the officiating. It's not like both teams were playing physical and only one was getting called for it. Force the refs to take control of the game by getting nasty. Not dirty, physical!

I am not against blaming the officials... but that's not our current problem.

Problem is the officials sometimes played better defense then our players.

If you're calling the cops on MSU, while you're at it can you put an APB alert out for Iowa's sack down the stretch? Thanks.

If that was your point then I'm agreeing with you. I read your post like you were saying they found where the line was by going over it, then they backed off a bit and road the line.

I think they crossed over the line, then forced the officials to move the line so they didn't get called for everything. Also they forced the officials to move the line the opposite direction for Iowa too. That was the only way to keep the fouls balanced.

I see this all the time but how can you accomplish it. The officials have already backed off on calling fouls on MSU so driving to the basket and getting knocked to the ground every time isn't going to help. The refs have already started calling ticky tack fouls on you to balance things out so I guess you can start holding and pushing them constantly. I just don't think that would work for Iowa on the road. They would get called every time and MSU wouldn't. We would be playing walk ons by the 8 minute mark.

I said in the game thread that we were doomed to lose once the refs called 5 quick fouls on MSU. That would normally be a good thing but I've seen it to many times with MSU. I knew touch fouls were coming our way and we weren't going to be able to buy a foul the rest of the game while they had free rein to mug us at will. That's exactly what happened.

Fran wasn't happy with the officiating
