could be worse

we could be TCU, perhaps the only team more of a letdown than this years Iowa team is. Eeking out a win against kansas because they misssed a game winning 54 yard FG a week after having to claw their way back to beat ISUcks..........man, some bad football being played in the big 12.

Which brings up the question: is ISU actually improving that much or is the Big 12 just that schitty this year?

For some reason, Baylor has trouble on the road at ISU. no idea if it's just the long road trip or what, but the last few road trips to Ames has given Baylor fits. Also, it was probably a kitchen-sink game for ISU.

I highly doubt it has anything to do with the road trip, since they fly and it's in the same time zone. I imagine it has more to do with the instant depression that kicks in once they step foot in Lames.

I have no idea and at least the last several years it doesn't make any sense because Baylor has been much better the last 10 years or so. Baylor just struggles there for some reason.

Or maybe MSU has one down year and then they are back to winning 10 or 11 games. As oppose to going 7-5 every year.

It will be interesting to see how they respond. Good years in 2010 and 2011, fell back in 2012, resurged in 2013-2015 and now things are looking like 2012 for them again. They've lost some good players and their D coordinator and Michigan is awake after their long nap.

Could be Iowa State who has blown late leads of 14 and 17 in consecutive weeks.

Could be Rutgers who just got 78 hung on them by Michigan. 78? And we only managed 14?

The Big 12 is horrible..Okahoma will most likely win the league. Indiana looks better than Oklahoma. And ISU improving? Maybe, but I look at it as who in the hell takes them seriously? ISU is motivated to win, their last couple opponents are sleep walking to start the game and then realize by the 4th quarter that they need to turn it on. They do so and win.

Notre Dame, TCU, Michigan St., Oklahoma, Florida St., LSU, UCLA, Ole Miss, Stanford

All of these teams were preseason ranked higher than Iowa and each have 2 losses or more like Iowa. That's football.

We pay Ferentz Top 10 money and the response, by some, is "could be worse."
Iowa State? Kirk finally got his record against them, to 9-9, and Barta breaks the bank for that.

This program is stale. 2015 was a Dead Cat's Bounce.
2017 recruiting class is helped by a son of a Hawkeye and the new facilities.
They aren't coming for the stretch left, stretch right.

When you said they resurged in 2013-2015 I assume you weren't referring to Iowa as 2013 and 2014 were anything but signs of resurgence. Were you referring to MSU? Yes you are right about Michigan being awake. Them, Notre Dame, and Nebraska have been snoozing and when all three totally awaken recruiting for Iowa is going to take a hit. With ISU last two games it appears they may be stirring in their sleep a bit also. If all four of those teams awaken kiss recruiting good bye.

Yeah I probably should have been more clear there. I was referring to MSU.
