I remember when he was at Iowa his freshman year

A friend of mine from DM was on the freshman team and mentioned this:

JR I was at Iowa when Connie played on the freshman team. Those games would draw a 15,000 fans. He is still the only person I have ever seen that could dribble two basketballs dunk them both.

We would have been contending for a National Championship if Iowa hadn't dropped Connie

Alas and Alack
Saw him in NBA. Special talent.

Yes, Hawkins at Iowa could have kept the hawks in the top limelight of college bball for several mores years. With Iowa just coming off two Final Four appearances, you wonder how many other players would have wanted to go to Iowa to play with Hawkins and have a chance at Big 10 and NCAA titles. Iowa still had some top teams from 1961-65 so just imagine!!!! The year Texas Western won the NCAA championship Iowa was a top 15 team through at least most of the season so WOW Hawkins could have made them even better by either being on the team or helping to set the stage for better recruits.
