Connie getting KILLED by Michigan at home

Down goes Bucky! Huge loss at home. Bye, bye top 10 for them. Better bring it in the Big Ten this year … no easy wins.

Connie's defense has been exposed in BIG play. Refs don't let them play the hockey goon style of defense that Bo likes. If the NCAA is set on calling fouls this way, I think it could be the beginning of the end for Bo Ryan. He doesn't recruit well enough to compete in the top half of the BIG and if he can't get away with that crap defense to help overcome his teams athletic shortcomings, how's he going to win games?

Am I the only one not particularly impressed with Sam Dekker? He's not done much since the start of conference play (averaging 12 ppg) and just always seems to get his points quietly.

I agree..he is a good coach though..Do you think he can adjust his style of play... Fran has shown that you don't need top level talent with his system. We are blessed to be so deep.

That's not it. They had 9 fouls for the whole game before the intentional fouls at the end. Really Wisconsin has abandoned or lost sight of its identity. For years they have been beating more skilled teams by going slow and keeping the game in the 40's and 50's. Before this week, Fran was the only coach in the conference in the last 5 years whose team scored 70 in a game against Wisconsin. Now Wisconsin thinks they want to take quick shots and play in transition, they're out of their comfort zone and they're getting burned by it.

I didn't say that because Wisconsin is getting called for a lot of fouls. They aren't playing the same kind of defense that they have in years past. Bo has his players playing defense the correct way and they aren't athletic enough to do it well. That's why they are giving up so many points this year. Bo won't play a zone defense, so he does some things with his man-to-man that have zone concepts. Long athletic teams have made them pay for that. There are half a dozen "long athletic teams" in the BIG. Bo used to combat that by grabbing guards on the perimeter to slow them down, when the other team is running screens. He would also grab and hold opposing players away from the ball, to disrupt the offense of opposing teams. You gotta hand it to him, he got away with it for 12 years. It's like the new rules emphasis were designed for Bo and the Badgers.

all these highly ranked teams throughout the nation... lets be honest - no one really knows who it is this year..

However I really believe the hawks could be a team that rises.

Michigan's size and athleticism are a matchup nightmare for Wisconsin. They are one of the few teams that have the size to matchup with Iowa. If Robinson III can ever get consistent (12 in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd), watch out.

5-0. 3 road wins, 2 against teams in the upper half of the B1G. After a spotty nonconference slate, they are putting things together at the right time.

He's trying to adjust his style of play. He's changed the way his players defend on the perimeter. They don't grab nearly as much as they used to. His team is also putting shots up faster in the shot clock as well as trying to get out in transition. He's going to have to start playing some zone defense or the interior defense is going to continue getting killed. Either that or sit Dekker and Jackson down until they learn how to play defense with the same kind of effort as the rest of the team. Those 2 guys play lazy defense.

Robinson is hard to figure. He has the skills to take over basketball games yet he never does. It's like he's day dreaming through the game, then all of a sudden he explodes to the basket and scores easily over the help defense. It's almost like he's disinterested. Guys like Robinson are reasons why I don't like coaching any sport. It would be extremely frustrating to know what that kid is capable of but not being able to get it out of him, each and every game.
He should average 20 ppg with his skill set.

He's one of the top 5 players in the country in terms of natural ability. He just doesn't seem to care about that.

Uthoff>Dekker
I agree and it won't be a popular opinion. Guys like Dekker that go out and take 10 shots a game (making 5) and adding a few FTs...don't impress me when they are giving up 15 points on the other end. He's soft inside on defense. Charmin soft. I think Ben Brust is the best player on their team.
