Congratulations Hawkeyes - a well-sdeserved win

If Virginia is going to lose I prefer it be by a clear margin so I don't spend the off-season lamenting one missed shot, misguided pass or blown call. The last 10 minutes your team did an effective job breaking down our defense and you had several players step up big. I wish you all the best against Maryland, a team we beat twice, and hope to see you wear the crown at MSG.

I wrote in my preview of two key factors: Would Harris return to form? Would Iowa shoot well from outside? I think both factors ended up looming large in the outcome. You shot the ball very well, especially beyond the arc, while Harris seemed alternatively timid and frustrated.

Our one big bright light was
the play of the two freshmen I highlighted, Justin Anderson and Mike Tobey. Anderson played what was likely his best game and what I hope is a preview of what to expect next year. His athleticism is NBA-calibre but he also bring qualities that make a great player, selfless play and passing and a positive energy that fires up his team and crowd. Tobey was bit off on his shooting, missing shots he usually makes, but showed talent and fortitude. But with everyone else on Virginia off-form -- and Iowa's defense deserves credit -- it wasn't enough to overcome your balanced attack and the step-up performance by Marble and your freshman big man.

Here's hoping we meet again next year in the NCAA final four!!

Classy post. I was impressed at how your fans supported the team and really got into the game.

Virginia is a special place and a State with tremendous history, beauty and tradition.

Very classy post indeed. Virginia is a great institution and I heard an awesome campus. Good luck next year.

I hope the B1G will send you all invite in the near future! Would love to have you as a part of the conference.

Those two freshmen have bright futures. It was a great environment too. You guys are going to fit in well in the B1G.

Too bad the refs were so shaky. I hate to see it when things get a bit out of hand because the zebras lose control. Just glad both teams pulled it together.

It will be fun playing our other new conference partner in NYC.

Some people have fretted over expansion, well a game like this shows you the possible benefits.

Classy post, wish you guys well next year as well. I really enjoyed the game, not because of the outcome, but because of how hard both teams played. A lot of young talent between the two teams. Next year should be a fun ride for both programs. Cheers.

High quality move to return with congratulations after the game, my friend. I lived in Hampton Roads for the better part of a decade, and though I was never lucky enough to take in a UVA/Iowa football game, I attended several others over the years. ALWAYS had a great time with the UVA fans. Some of the most welcoming fans around and just a whole lot of fun.

I've no idea if the UVA to the Big 10 rumors hold any water (or even if such rumors are circulating outside of Big 10 country). But from the very first I've said that there isn't a group of fans I'd be more ready to welcome than the UVA faithful.

Congratulations to you for a successful season, as well. May our next meeting be for a much bigger prize.

Our biggest win of the year UVA guy. Tough environment and a very tough team. (though that guy sitting behind the broadcast team was some piece of work..LOL).

Appreciate your sportsmanship. You should make it to Iowa City for a football weekend this fall. We'll show you a good time for sure.

See you in the NCAA Tourney next year, UVAbball...I haven't been this impressed with an opposing team's poster since Iowa took on South Carolina (football) a few years ago...when we were good...

^^^ I found myself thinking about that actually ^^^

And then there are Gator football fans.... Funny how some teams have cool fans, and other fanbases are just full of arrogant d!cks.

Thanks UVA - your program looks to have a bright future, and am sure you guys will be an NCAA team next year, along with our Hawkeyes. We all have reason to be excited for next season.

With 10 seconds left in the game, Marble put the ball under his arm, and shook hands with the UVA defender. A great example of sportsmanship by two class young men.

Classy post - it's especially tough to lose when that loss ends your season. I have a new found respect for Virginia BB. Consider me a fan of your program. I'll be hoping we meet again in the big dance late March or April!

Probably the same UVA guy that knocked Marble to the floor on a shot attempt, but then helped him up.

Based on what I saw Virginia has a bright future with very good underclassman and a solid coach who has the ability to bring in talented players.

Please do all of us Hawkeye fans a favor... If you are ever walking past dickwad Roy Williams give him a nice shoulder bump!

Gotta admit, I am also a little confused by the UVA fanbase. I was looking at a couple of their boards expecting people to put some blame on the officials for the loss. Instead, while they were complaining about the officiating, they knew it was horrible both ways and wasn't to blame.

It's quite refreshing.

Good luck next year UVA fans.

See this, cloners? This is how it's done.
