Conditioning

With regard to all the criticism that I have seen here in the last hour, I haven't noticed anyone mention what I think is the biggest elephant in the corner, no pun intended.

Conditioning.

This team has consistently looked and performed in the 4th quarter as though they have no gas. Especially the defense, but the O line is also getting whipped in the 4th.

It seems inconceivable, given Coach Doyle's program, and the history of the football program in general, but I don't think my eyes are lying to me on this one.

Agreed. not sure what the final stats were, but the defense was on the field about 20 of the first 25 minutes of the game, seemed like. 5 friggn punts

I was thinking about mentioning it in another thread, but didn't get around to it.

But yes, I was really disappointed to see how tired our defensive ends were in the 4th quarter. I don't recall seeing that before in an Iowa D under Ferentz.
