Not get any more mad than any other loss to a good program.

I tip my cap to Fitz. He seems to run a clean program, and he followed the footsteps of Barnett in not wanting to overshoot. NW is never going to be OSU or Michigan or Penn State. But, it can gear its program to compete with Iowa and Michigan State. It has.

That said, every worm turns. We have had Nebbie, Minny and ISU's number of late. Wisky and NW have owned us for the most part. I think we get a W this year.

KFs stubborness is solidified placing an * on his success that will 30 years from now be largely forgotten.

Would you be in favor of BF trying to destroy NW with a, say, 70/30 passing attack running up the score for a statement vs NW?

Hahaha, if you remember last year Fitzie did his normal job of junking up the LOS and stopping Iowa's run game for the most part which led to a young QB throwing 50 plus passes.

jNW does crowd the LOS so the hawks still have to be balanced, get the run game working even if just enough, and take a few shots down the field to make Fitzie pay.

IIRC jNW lost 2 really great Lbkrs and some others on defense. If their new transfer QB is not up to snuff I think the hawks beat them (but of course they probably should have beaten them most of the time since 2009)

My answer is "I swear I cant believe how lame Kirk and Brian are against these lesser teams".

...we will have found a way to f up a wet dream again to those bastards.

If it's close late, look out. They win all the close games against us, with the exception being the 2013 OT game at Kinnick.

When we do win its usually a lopsided game, like 2019 when their offense failed to show, or 2015 when Wadley ran wild.

I think the NW game illustrates the difference between Hayden and Kirk.
NW clearly plays run against us, sometimes 8 or 9 in the box.
Hayden would have passed nearly every play until NW had to play em honest.
Kirk just keeps running at this wall, as if he is too arrogant or proud to change.
Reminds me of Commings' archaic obsession with 'establishing the run game' in the dismal '70's.

(A) Petras didn’t progress as some expected

(B) Our vaccination rate came back to bite us.

Above choices can be applied to any game on Iowa's schedule including NW.

Yep. It doesn't matter if jNW is up 10 or down 10 Pat Fitzgerald has that same smug look on his face throughout the game. Like he knows all NW has to do is keep it close and they will win it late. As if he is counting on a KF screw up game management wise.

Based on PF's body language, demeanor and mannerisms during this game it makes me wonder if PF thinks KF isn't a very good coach. What would he say if you gave him some truth serum or caught him in a private moment? Yes, I know all about how he feels toward Iowa going back to the broken leg as a player which supposedly cost him his shot at the NFL. It goes beyond the extra motivation thing... he just seems super confident he can out X and O Iowa anytime he wants.

It wasn’t the broken leg that caused him a shot at the NFL, he got a plenty good shot. He was flat out too slow to play in the NFL and he was slow in college too. Mike Ditka came up to him during his first camp and told him he should get into coaching.

The bitterness about the broken leg is because it cost him his only chance to play in the Rose Bowl, which was a huge deal at the time. Way bigger than it is now.

One of the Big coach s said if Iowa went to a dual threat qb and opened things up they'd be really tough to beat or something like that. Always thought it was PF.

Soccer is not football but I could drive the coach of areally good team that played fundamental possession absolutely nuts by exploiting their predictable tendencies. We played great man up help D and wouldn't worry about surprises as they weren't coming. A quick score by being surprising and game over..
