Coaching Trees?

With the NFL in flux with coaching hiring and firing there is a lot of talk about coaching trees. Same with the BB and the NBA in their times of shuffling.

Is there much of a "coaching tree" of success that Fran or Kirk have produced? If not, why?

I don't know much about it, if someone wants to add details and/or explanations.

Perhaps Iowa is a place to be, with stability. There seems to be a long, long leash in Iowa, which is a perfect situation for the more safe personalities.

Perhaps the staffs aren't filled with much talent and the type that is willing to risk going to a play to grow or get fired at another locations, jump in responsibility?

Assistants never leave the love him/them so much.

Seriously though assistants are so much better paid now than back in the day...
Iowa offers security, longevity, $$$ why go to the NFL where there are expectations? Accountability?

Certainly understandable.

Not saying it's 100% correct, but Wikipedia lists as many of KF's Maine assistants going on to be head coaches as Iowa assistants.
