Per USA Today, here are last year's salaries for Iowa's Assistant Coaches for whoever was looking for them.

Analyzing salaries for Football Bowl Subdivision coaches - USATODAY.com

This has the coach, their salary per year, their rank within all Div I assistants, and their maximum bonus per year per their contract

Ken O'Keefe $261,024 #88 - $43,337
Erik Campbell $206,800 #182 - $34,467
Reese Morgan $206,214 #183 - $34,202
Phil Parker (same as morgan)
Lester Erb $200,716 #206 - $33,286
Darrell Wilson (same as Erb)
Norm Parker $194,325 #228 - $32,221
Eric Johnson $150,226 #390 - $24,871
Rick Kaczenski $144,688 #427 - $23,948

NOTE: If you go to the USA Today website you can view Kirk's contract also.

That should get the "let's fire Ken O'Keefe" crowd fired up.

It is utterly amazing that Norm Parker makes less than Campbell, Erb, Wilson, Morgan and P Parker...what's that all about?

Even more surprising, ISU's DC makes 275,000 and the OC makes 250,000....that REALLY surprises me (though I think they are both well worth that salary).

I'm sure because of the BCS Orange Bowl victory, our graduation rates, etc. that all our assistants got paid a big part of their bonuses. In comparison, McCarney at Florida makes $300,000 base but Florida gives no bonuses (there's a joke here somewhere about Florida giving bonuses for graduation rates anyway ...)

I was talking with a buddy of mine and we wondered if Norm's salary was lower because he gets some kind of medical coverage from the University, with his health not being the best. I don't know if that's true, but it was a thought we came up with.

What appalls me is that of all the asst coachs KOK is ranked the highest and all of the O cordinators make more $ than anyone on defense.

I thought it was well known that Norm's salary was lower than it would otherwise be because he doesn't have the same off-season responsibilities as the other coaches. Because of his medical problems he does not do recruiting visits, etc. as often as the rest of the assistants. I don't have any personal knowledge that this is the case, but I was under the impression that everyone just kind of knew that was why.

Im not sure you should be appalled by this. Hes been at Iowa for a long time. all of these guys are compensated extremely well. Except for Norm but there has to be a logical explantation for it

Not bad to do a job you love. I'm sure there are professions that get a lot of self satisfaction (doctors, home builders, farmers, etc) when their hard work pays off and they can stand back and take it all in. I am all for paying these coaches the money they make and hope their passion is as strong as ours.
