Coaches poll ballots

Took the polls and put them in a pivot table.

Number of votes received, average ranking, high/low, and SDEVP (higher number is more volatile, i.e. less consensus from coaches as to where a certain team should be).

All 65 coaches had Oklahoma 4th. Weird.

That makes it even worse. The SID guy should be aware of Iowa, the coach can claim incompetence with good excuses.

How do you know it's a "guy," bud? Irregardless, whoever it is has probably never heard of the Iowa Pre-Flight Seahawks.

I have to tell you...I watched the Utah - Oregon game. Utah sucks. I look at teams offensively and say, could our defense make you one dimensional. Did you watch Utah's passing game? It was like watching a high school team.

Having them 10th to 13th tells you all you need to know. So we get beat by Wisconsin by 2 at their place and get no respect from some of these coaches. I know we don't have a prolific offense that doesn't score much...but teams don't score against us. A win is a win.

Even weirder that the same is true of ISU, ASU, Kentucky, Cal, VaTech & Hawaii. The votes they received were all uniform. Okie seems obvious...with the outcome of the Championship games, everyone expected them at #4.

Oh I don't know. Tennessee, Iowa State, Arizona State, Kentucky, California, and Hawaii all damn well better have an arithmetic deviation of zero. Anything other than that would be um well, impossible.

Don’t use this “word,” it makes you look dumb (and you’re not). It’s just regardless.
"Irregardless is a nonstandard synonym for regardless, which means “without concern as to advice, warning, or hardship,” or “heedless.” Its nonstandard status is due to the double negative construction of the prefix ir- with the suffix -less. ... The bottom line is that irregardless is indeed a word, albeit a clunky one."

To sum it up: everyone better avoid using slang and acronyms with the risk of "looking dumb"

Except it’s not listed as slang in the definition you’ve provided at all, is it? It’s listed as nonstandard, and in my personal, entirely subjective, holier-than-thou opinion, people that use it, rather than the actual word with which it shares an identical meaning, make themselves look stupid. I find (because I point out the ridiculous decision to use this word in real life) that 1. people don’t typically realize it’s stupid until it’s pointed out to them that it’s nonstandard and has no discernible difference from “regardless” and 2. that people that do realize this tend to agree with me, in my personal experience. Double negatives are not your friends. YMMV, but if you have friends that regularly say this, they probably aren’t as smart as they think they are.

Also, to be abundantly clear, “irregardless” is objectively not slang.

It's a 4 syllable word and people who use it are smarter than you.
