Clemmons Sticking With The Program

I kind of had a hunch he was going to stay, given how he talked at the end of the season. Didn't talk about being disappointed in playing time or speak in generalities. He came right out and said he didn't dedicate himself the way he should have, and sounded like he was ready to really buckle down next season.

Glad Clemmons is staying. There was a point and time during his freshman year, he played really well. There just didn't seem to be much improvement in his game since.

That is a good read and a revealing article. I am happy Sapp is staying. Like many folks, I saw him flash as a FR. I envisioned him being a more than capable jumpshooter with range and being able to get to the hole. I was surprised/disappointed this past season. Sapp is one of my favorites on the team. If he does bring it, I think a guard rotation of Sapp, TD, MG, Jok and JO is a very nice one to have. I think MG and Sapp can both play the 2 spot and that just helps the rotation.

He has the tools to be a solid player. I hope he stays true to his word and rededicates himself this summer. There are minutes to be had with Marble gone and I wouldn't assume Dickerson being the immediate answer. Going from juco in ND to the B1G is a big transition. I hope people making him out to be a savior temper their expectations or they may be disappointed.

It certainly helps that his dad has his head on straight. The guys ahead of you are playing better is reality. Too many parents tell their kid he's getting a raw deal, should be starting, should transfer, etc.

Glad he's staying, and I hope he gets a legitimate chance to beat out MG for playing time. He brings a lot to the floor and when he plays with confidence, he's fun to watch.
If he works at it, I think Sapp has a chance to make a niche for himself, probably as a defensive stopper. Gesell has definitely established himself as the man to beat at PG. I'm really hoping TD makes an impact on the rotation because we need his quickness and I already like his vocal leadership. If Sapp gets some good minutes, he will have earned them. That can't help but be a good thing for the team.

I second this.
It's a bigger surprise that he's staying then if he woulda decided to leave. Because of the reasons you listed and more. If Clemmons keeps this attitude up it could not only benefit him during the rest of his Iowa career but his life. Basketball is just a part of these guys lives. Moving, changing schools and all that goes with that isn't exactly easy either. I haven't heard a bad word spoken about the kid. Hope his game improves for himself and the team. But he sounds like a good guy on the right road

Glad he is sticking...we need him to be a solid contributor next year. With him, and TD,Mike, and the two shooting guards( Josh and Peter) , we might have enough guards to match up with all the different guard combos around the league....we can go quick with Mike and Sapp/TD together, or go with pg/sg combos like Mike/Peter or Trey/Sapp/ Josh.... he will be junior, and has played a lot of minutes...experience is still good.

He was looking really good early in the year last season. He just fell off for whatever reason...possibly the level of competition. Very streaky player.

I'm glad he's coming back with a chip on his shoulder...if he cuts down the turnovers he's going to help this team especially when he's shooting with confidence. He always seemed to be a guy who doesn't fear taking the shot when we needed one with him on the floor.
