Clearly, G Barta deserves a big raise

While some thumbsucker fans were 'rethinking' their choice to not review
Season tickets to the IOWA HAWKEYE Football program, 60,000 of my closest friends &
I witnessed one of the Best Hawkeye games in many years.

The Hawkeye football team, looks to improve to 4-0, next Saturday
& then start a run at the BigTen West Division title.

With Iowa Basketball getting set to challenge for the
Big Ten title and many sports on a roll, it's time to
Show GB the Money.

I left yesterday's football game with more questions than answers. While I certainly appreciate your enthusiasm, I think you'd best best served to back it down a notch or two. And you're correct, Barta is a hero. Laffy.
 
I realize you are being sarcastic, but these are my thoughts:

1. Last night's game at Kinnick was awesome. I've seen a lot of games in that stadium, and last night is in the top 3 for atmosphere and emotion.

2. Iowa is seemingly doing all the right things THIS YEAR. The program appears to be on the upswing.

3. Kirk Ferentz is a great man, with a controversial coaching record at Iowa.


I blame Barta for letting things get as bad as they did. OK sure, he found the money needed to build the new Football Operations Center. Congrats. In the meantime, he teamed up with Sally Mason to nearly destroy the tailgating atmosphere in Iowa City. Crazy cutoff times and ridiculous enforcement of a new set of "rules" regarding alcohol consumption turned a lot of people away. He jacked up the cost of student ticktets and stood by with his hands in his pocket while the student ticket sales decreased by 50% over the last few years. Oh, and the product on the field wasn't so spectacular either. That is ultimately KF's job, but someone has to make sure he is doing his job. Why was Kirk being pulled in so many directions for fundraising events taking his attention away from the football program?

Barta is in full damage control mode now, and we are seeing what he and his department are really capable of in regards to taking care of the fans. Having a new University President is helpful.

I don't blame anyone for not renewing their tickets. The only thing Barta was selling last January was hope. Hope based on what...his good word? His past job performance? Laughable.

If I could speak with Mr. Barta, I'd tell him that it's great to finally see him doing the job he should have been doing all along....connecting with the fans and creating the best college gameday atmosphere possible. Until now, he's just been slacking off.
 
Did you see Barta on TV jumping for joy after the winning FG and then running and rejoicing on the field.

Barta must have been saying "Koehn just saved my job".
 
I personally don't have too much of a problem with Barta himself. The problem is keeping people that are clearly not good at their job or moving around incompetent people to other positions. (I believe there was a guy that got moved around after a sexual harassment thing, though don't remember for certain.)

Is it the OP, or do people just feel the need to make a Barta thread every 4-6 weeks?

Captain Kirk and Iowa's AD.

EARTH to Uihawk82...........there were about 65,000 Hawkeye fans jumping for joy at that time.

Barta is gone when the season's over. It won't take the new President long to figure out that Barta's an incompetent boob. You can help him pack up and move, Hawg. He might even have a spare room at his new home in Wyoming. Or Montana. Or wherever he crawled over from.
 
Well, from what I saw, Barta deserves nothing.....BTN had him on the replay while the kick was on it's way.....Kick goes through and Barta jumps like a little school girl, embarrassing really......:p

Wow, really? It's just an observation man, give me a freakin break....Screw the rest of the fans, This is about Barta, and he sucks donkey balls. and NO, he doesn't deserve a raise....
