Chuck long

Did well at Oklahoma, tanked pretty bad at SDSU. I don't think he's a bad assistant, but KF and him don't get along too well I don't think.

Yep. Totally different offensive philosophies. Would be even worse off a marriage than Ferentz - Davis.

From what I have heard he didn't get along with stoops when he was at Oklahoma but he was a much better asst than hc.

That segment where he went back to his dorm room and it was filled with girls did not end like I thought it would.

It's family television, what did you expect?

I live in San Diego...he had a tough road to hoe out here with academic issues and the like, and they had schollies taken away for that reason that really hurt them. They didn't have enough or quality linemen when he got here and that was the focal point of his first few years. . He just was terrible at game day decisions though...and I think he got completely overwhelmed trying to manage his staff and the program. He wasn't ready for that opportunity and the media here in San Diego (a big market) ate him alive. They don't throw softball questions at you all day like the Iowa media does...they expect you to know your stuff and being able to manage the media when they are critical of your program. Long was terrible with that...he stuttered through half the press conferences and the local media hated him.

That being said, the previous poster was correct...he did right the ship for Hoke. He put a foundation in place and Hoke benefited. But Hoke also had Rocky Long as his D-Coordinator....which has killed him at Michigan...Long was also a big part of Hoke's success.
