With Turner Gill out at Kansas, it means Long will again be looking for work. Will be interesting to see where he lands. I understand he and Ferentz weren't all that close when he was on Iowa's staff, and considering KU's offensive struggles the last two years, I am guessing he wouldn't be considered anyway, even if KF decided to make a change at OC.
Kinda interesting to see the ebb Long's career took after leaving OU. He was pretty highly thought of out there, but apparently not too well thought of as HC material, as he landed at SD State--and not a bigger gig. His tenure there looks even worse when you consider that Hoke went in there and turned things around almost immediately. And his job with the KU offense was unimpressive to say the least. That said, it's hard to put all of KU's offensive woes on him, as their problems ran much deeper.
Hoping he can bounce back. He was a great player here and was a rising star in the coaching ranks. Perhaps some time off to recharge will do him good.
