Chris Paul

I have to admit...as much as I hate it when professional athletes demand trades...I'm an Orlando Magic fan (although not a huge fan) and the thought of Chris Paul teamed up with Dwight Howard gets me almost as excited as the thought that the Magic might be able to get rid of Vince Carter in the deal.

Supposedly the Hornets are going to require that Emeka Okafor be included in the deal...even though his contract is terrible I don't mind that. The magic could potentially have a roster of:

PG - Chris Paul
SG - JJ Redick (better than people think)
SF - Rashard Lewis (6'10 and can shoot lights out)
PF - Emeka Okafor
C - Dwight Howard

That gives them length...lights out shooting...one of the best PGs in the league teamed with the best center in the league...and it improves the leagues best defense from a year ago.

I realize no one probably cares about the Magic...but here is what I thought might interest some people...Lebron James allegedly (sorry no link) contacted Chris Paul and told him that he should request a trade but that rather than go to the Magic or Knicks...he should go to a Western Conference team to create a better Finals rivalry.

Are you f'n kidding me...first the guy colludes with other free agents to orchestrate where everyone will be going in free agency...now he's trying to direct other players where they should go. I'm not sure if he thinks this is professional wrestling or what. Maybe it's not true...but given his actions over this summer it certainly wouldn't surprise me.

And let's be honest...if James did in fact say that to Paul...does anyone really believe that it's because he wants a better Finals rivalry and not because he would look like a clown if after this summer if the Heat didn't even win the Eastern Conference.

Chris Paul deserves to be on a good team

Add him to the Magic and the Eastern Conference is back up for grabs!

Edit: One small objection made by the OP....Rashard Lewis needs to shoot beeter than 10% in the playoffs before he can be considered a lights out shooter :)

CP3 signed with LeBron's marketing agency and they are very good friends, to think LeBron stuck his nose in and is trying to direct Paul is no surprise.

Rashard Lewis was pretty sick during the playoffs...and I mean that in the literal sense of the word. He said late in the Boston series that had it been the regular season he would not have been playing. He's overpaid and has a tendency to disappear because he's not overly physical but it you put him at the 3 spot...he would be an all-star or close to it.

His career numbers in the playoffs are 16.9 PPG 6.1 RPG 35.7% 3P FG% including 19.0 PPG 6.4 RPG 39.4 3P FG% in the '09 playoff run that saw the Magic make the NBA Finals w/o their starting PG.

I meant to say that is correct!

I guess Lebron has the right to consult CP3 however he sees fit...but if I were Chris Paul and I were considering leaving my current team and were going to hire a marketing agency to help me do it...I'm pretty sure Lebron's would be last on my list. Maurice Clarrett made a more graceful exit from OSU than Lebron from Cleveland...I'd probably hire MC before LBJ.
