Chris Doyle - Your Team Just Got Physically Dominated - What are you going to do?

I hope he's not at Disneyland right now. He's got to be embarrassed as hell. That was a physical beat down, no sugar coating.

His players may be finely conditioned...but I'm beginning to think he may be missing the boat on the OL. I think he keeps weights lower thinking with the type of line play (stretch plays) they need to be quick and possibly lighter. Well, I'm going out on a limb and saying, I'd prefer 310 -320 pounds across the line with a nasty attitudes. Hell, damn near every big 10 team is bigger than we are right now on the OL.

You're kidding, right?

I guarantee since rhabdo he's been handcuffed by someone in some areas.

The size of lineman is based on the coaches decision and the blocking scheme.

The players are not weak either. Videos from the weight room show they're very strong.

The real problem is football talent. Iowa is missing it in a lot of areas. Can't tackle. Can't block. Can't cover.

We just got physically manhandled yesterday. Doesn't that go to strength, conditioning and attitude. The bullies of the big ten, just become someone's *****.

I was going to bring up the Rhabdo thing too. Have we lost an edge.

I honestly think they control player weight on the OL. I say let them eat.

They control everyones weight. Yesterday I have to think the problem was between the ears. Yes I agree Rhabdo changed things. But how do guys come out not ready to compete 2 out of 3 weeks. Something just doesn't seem right.

We have not been the same team, physically, since Rhabdo.

Could it be that Doyle's strength & conditioning methods, once revolutionary, have been copied, modified, improved upon, and thus Iowa is no longer at a physical advantage against many teams?

If he doesn't have the ability to adjust to the times, that would explain why Kirk likes him so much.

Also about this Bullies of the B1G nonsense. Its been over 10 seasons since the Michigan LB made the remark and Griese repeated that player's remark on TV. Iowa coaches, players, & fans are the only people who have referred to the Hawkeyes as bullies of the B1G. Nicknames don't count when you give it to yourself and nobody else uses it.

When you go several years without a team dominating you...it's a good sign that you are physically prepared football team. We went several years where even our losses were one score games. Everyone knows we don't always have the greatest skill position players in the country, so if you are doing that, you are good in the trenches and physical. I've seen several coaches talk about how physical Iowa was and how their players needed time to recover after the game. Gary Anderson talked about it last year when Wisconsin played in Kinnick.

Honestly, yesterday was the first time where I felt we were truly physically dominated...and I can't recall a game in the past few years. Hell, even 2012 we were dominated like yesterday. Minnesota lined up and said, here it comes, and we had no answer. Phil Parker was out coached to such a degree that it was mind boggling to me. When you don't adjust to the weak side zone read and they run it over and over again and you still can't stop it...well...that's coaching. We should have had nine in the box, man coverage everywhere, and taken our chance with Leidner and big plays. A quick death was better to me than the slow death we chose.

Aqua freakin Velva, baby.

I said it at the time of the rhabado incident that we should have kicked those kids off the team. Everyone on our top ten teams did the workout without getting rhabado, it was a sign of how soft the program had gotten.

send 13 players to the hospital and then get an award from KF?

I recall that it was a matter of kids doing an absolute muscle burn down workout, then instead of allowing their bodies to recover, decided to go hit the bars.

At least that the story I heard. Could be wrong, though.

This coaching staff has been great at times over the years, but times change. Doyle doesn't have a corner on the sport science market. Times change. Are the hawks evolving with the times? I think not. Watch other games on a Saturday and it can get a little depressing.

We'll see how the rest of the year goes, but the light at the end of the tunnel may be a train.

Holy smokes man. I just dont know what to say. Other than you can't possibly be in sales, public relations, coaching, teaching, politics, law, or sales.

It would help if we didn't settle for each and every under sized recruit. I know Kirk is fond of a half star recruit from Monana, Iowa but if we would just land the big time recruits then we don't have to transform that half start linebacker into a left guard. Start with a better product then coach him up, you should get better results...

Yes I agree Rhabdo changed things.

Haven't seen one player or coach say Iowa's strength program has changed in any way since the incident - other than stopping that particular workout. The Brandon Scherff video says "hello".

Internet myths are fun.

What I saw yesterday was less-than-max effort, including surprisingly tentative play from Weisman, and bad technique especially from the guards. Walsh+Welsh=Whiff.

See, it’s ok to have your occasional 8-man high school success story sprinkled in the defense. But when half the unit is like 2 years removed from Class A, that isn’t conducive to winning B1G titles.

My thoughts exactly. I literally couldn't believe what I saw unfold. I felt ill and thought I was going to puke there for a while, then just became numb to it. Fitz obviously didn't pay close enough attention to the Maryland footage. Kill's boys sure did. I'll say it again - forget the fancy footwork and schemes in a game like this, just pound them. I actually was glad to see Blythe get the ineligible man downfield penalty. At least he was trying.
