Apparently NFL scouts like attending the Iowa pro day. 27 of them, presumably including the Chiefs, attended the Iowa pro day yesterday and were treated to a big lunch, courtesy of the Iowa staff, as well a practice session free of agents.
LT Bryan Bulaga, as we mentioned yesterday, upped his bench press reps by one (27) and stood on most of his other numbers from the NFL Combine. According to reports, he looked solid in positional drills and didn't do anything to hurt his stock.
The Chiefs have been linked to Bulaga by more and more mock drafters, nnamely Pat Kirwan of NFL.com.
However, there were also a couple of other players at positions of need working out.
OLB A.J. Edds
Definitely seems to come in the "right 53" mode.
"A lot guys get hung up on how much they weigh, how fast they are,'' Edds said. "At the end of the day, it's important that you're a coachable guy that can play and go out there and do what the coaches ask you to do and not just show off and talk about it. "You've got to be a guy who works your (butt) off.''
In addition to that, he's a three-year starter so there's plenty of tape on him out there.
The 6'4", 246 pound linebacker runs in the 4.5-4.6 range and is expected to be mid-round pick.
OT Kyle Calloway
Bookend Iowa tackles perhaps?
Calloway comes in at 6'7" and 323 pounds, which is good size for a right tackle. Chiefs GM Scott Pioli is said to be a fan of the technical aspects of Iowa linemen's game.
Calloway has a slip-up early in the season (DUI) but came back to get All-Big Ten Honorable Mention.
