Chicago Teacher's Strike--How will this affect Fall Sports?

Knowing that Iowa recruits the Chicago area for a number of sports, I was curious. How will the teacher's strike affect Fall sports? Will they still play football, volleyball, or cross country? I saw a bit on Comcast a few weeks ago where they said that they were trying to pass a ruling that would allow the fall sports to continue during a strike. I never heard what was decided.

Just an FYI - News Radio this morning was reporting games will definitely not be played.

Practices aren't allowed right now either. But some teams were organizing to meet on their own off school property it sounded like.

Thanks for the information Churlish. That would be tough to go through all of the off season workouts/two-a-days and then find out that they can't play games. Not sure if Iowa is in on some recruits from this area. If so, some of those kids may not have much game time.
