Chasing 'Ghosts'....

Listen, I'm not going to argue with anyone anymore. I'm going to explain things to you and you can believe whatever you'd like. After Jewell made on of the 'few' good plays he made Saturday, the announcer claimed 'he was all over the field', well he was, but not in a good way. He spent most of the day chasing 'ghosts'. Mike LB's at Iowa ate taught to read their 'triangle' (guard, guard, 1st back is one way it is taught). The reason Jewell is good, is because how fast he reads these people and reacts. NDSU knows that, so they gave him 'ghost' reads (fake reads) to chase all day leaving him out of position numerous times and us with literally no Mike LB at times. They would pull a guard knowing Jewell would chase and attack the puller, then run the ball to the spot the puller vacated, seal the DE, and leave a 'natural' hole. They had Jewell chasing the 'jet' man numerous times, leaving 3 on 2 with our DT's then simply run up the B gap (QB or TB). They would send the fullback 'away' from the play (usually just to seal backside) knowing Jewell would follow to 'take him on' leaving him out of position and 'pinned' from getting back over the top. When NDSU just tried to got 'toe to 'toe' with us, they were not very successful, but on the plays they had Jewell chasing ghosts, they hit some big runs. Hell, on the HUGE run by the QB on the last drive, they released an offensive lineman down field in full sprint (so it obviously CANNOT be a pass play) but they had Jewell chasing him like he was an eligible receiver....and then get cut blocked by the guy thus giving up another 20 yds! So some are saying we got 'man-handled' or 'out-physicaled' by NDSU, when in reality, we just got out coached, and that's hard for me to say......I'll talk about our poorly executed line stunts and Taylor at another time.........
