Chances of the PSU Game Being at Night?

Anytime Iowa and PSU battle under the lights it's going to be a crazy/memorable game. Whether its a late afternoon game or a night game, just look at what recent history has given us.

That will be game #6 for both teams. Iowa plays Indy, ISU, MD in 3 of its first 5 games.
PSU plays wisc, Auburn and Indy.

My guess is neither team will be 5-0 and more likely each team will 3-2

Next question is who is picking the game for tv that week? If its Fox, it will be at 11am.

The Big Ten does not have many great matchups that week. Neb-Mich and OSU-MD could get picked first by tv if any of those teams are any good.

My guess is the PSU-Iowa game will be the first game picked by FOX and the game will start at 11 am.

I think there is a fair chance it makes the night slot. My father-in-law is coming up from Texas for the game and I've told him to be ready for a night game. I still think it could be the most attractive Big 10 game that day.

I’m thinking it gets the night slot. Black and gold game, and Kinninck rocks pretty hard at night. If both teams have winning records I’m guessing we play under the lights.

A night game at Kinnick may attract ESPN Game Day which would be kinda cool.

I know the show isn't what it once was and there's not a great location for it in the immediate Kinnick vicinity but, damn, they haven't been here since 2006.

This board didn't even exist in 2006. Many of the current posters were barely out of college then.

Where would there be a better spot than the Memorial Union Field? Near the baseball stadium, or not enough room?

It’d have to go in lot 43 and that would obviously cause a a major shitstorm with people paying 5 figures for those spots. There’s nowhere else to do it; it’d be super lame to have it across town somewhere that’s not in view of Kinnick.

I'm all for it, the less 11 am start games the better from my POV now that I've got season tickets. Seems like most Iowa/PSU games are now played under the lights.

You going down a day early for FryFest?

We're going to drive down early Friday morning, stay the night, and be tailgating early Saturday. 5 1/2 hour drive home after the game but my buddy and I don't drink so it won't be a big deal. Beating Indiana would actually make it a pleasant drive home.

And if we lose on a Ferentz knee to end regulation with 1:20 left on the clock and an OT FG that we can't answer the drive back will be among the longest 5.5 hours of your life.

6-8 years ago I would've said you were right. I'm jaded now. I get excited about the highs and meh on the lows. Expect the worst and be surprised when it's better.

As long as my kid has a blast I'm good with it.

I honestly like the 2:30 game times more and more every year. Can go down the night before, setup the tailgate at the butt crack of dawn, get a solid 6 hours + 2 meals before the game, and be home around midnight.

I haven't planned on it, I probably should. Might be too late to book a room.

What lot you in?

Private grass lot down on Myrtle.

Staying at the AmericInn in Coralville. They've still got rooms open Friday night, $120-130 ish after tax. It's not the Carlton by any stretch but it's been decent in the past, and we're two 40 year old dudes with a couple of 14 year old sons. We just want a bed and then we're outta there in the morning. There's some pretty cheap stuff up in CR by the airport but that'd be last resort.

@InGoodCo , you gonna make a home game this year?

@Hawkfnntn ? Get your ass up outta Tennessee this year and catch a game.
We're shooting for Iowa vs Wisconsin in Mad Town on October 30, which happens to be my youngest's birthday.

How about this? My wife knows the mother of the kid from Lena-Winslow because my wife calls on that account in Stockton, IL. She has offered us tickets IN THE PARENTS SECTION for a Kinnick game this fall.

I know this lady as well from my job. If she pulls this off for us she gets dinner on us at a restaurant of her choice in Chicago.

On a side note he and three of his basketball buddies were ball boys on his birthday back in 2016 for a Wisconsin-UW Platteville exhibition game. It was the Gard Brothers coaching against each other, and all four boys were veterans of Jeff Gard's summer camp at UWP. The son of my wife's first cousin played in that game for UWP as well

I've come back from football and basketball losses in Madison with a caravan of Badger fans.

Heavy libation helps!

2:30 were always much preferred to me over 11 am game times as well, plenty of time to get going in the morning, more time to tailgate and the excitement builds a little longer.

Just wondering if anybody gives a flying-fluck anymore about being featured on gameday?
