CHA Crowd

I realize Rutgers was coming in not so great, but IA needed the win badly, and that atmosphere on TV was awful. WAY too many bluehairs in the Front rows--honestly if your a recruit considering IA and you come to CHA where they are apparently giving away sedatives with tickets, what gets you excited about playing for IA. It was like watching a PSU game only with more people in the stands. IA needs improvement in atmosphere.

I was there and it was about 60% full. I was not surprised at all after 2 disappointing losses, a really cold night and the worst team in the league coming in. Not exactly a recipe to attend and 'go-crazy'.

I actually enjoyed sitting back and taking the game in that was over early as opposed to sweating bullets and being frustrated.

There have been quite a few large crowds in CHA over the past couple of seasons and it does get loud when the team is playing well. No worries.

Your post is typical of today's over-reaction society. See one thing and correlate it to immedaite and absolute devastation.

There are 3 things kids look for in a program... Wins, playing time and bags of money.

Its a a poorly designed seating arrangement. Seems like 1/3 of the seating area is made up of stairs! The student section should be by the floor inside the court area. The team runs hot and cold and often doesn't display enthusiasm for teammates or the game. All factors!

When Carver was built it was thought to be state of the art facility. unfortunately while being very nice structure it was designed more as a theater than a basketball Arena. Its just not a great home court advantage and much is due to the design. Hilton on the other hand was not as "beautiful" a building but much more of an advantage in regard to the fans being close to the action and especially the students. One has to admit the Clone fans are a much bigger difference than are Iowa fans. I guess a lot of it is due to Johnny Orr but also to the building itself. Of course in the past few years the level of play has been much greater than we have enjoyed. there is probably nothing that can be done to the structure of Carver at this point however the seating arrangement sure could be changed. Of course that may be another reason why Carver is not so loud as many of the people in the seats are long time contributors and maybe a bit older? In any event thanks Lute for your input into the design of Carver

They seriously need to put the student section closer to the court. Almost every good team has a student section close to the court that makes the atmosphere a lot better.
