Celebrating Every Play

Anyone else feel that the celebration of everything, trash talking, finger wagging has gotten out of control?
I could watch about 5 minutes of the Clemson , ND game, had to turn if off. Kudos to the ref in the Michigan, Fla game who took control and ordered the Fla players off the field as they were organizing their choreographed TD celebration after a pick 6.

It's one of the reasons I've pretty much quit watching the NFL.

I agree. What I really hate is when a player on a team which is behind big time on the scoreboard goes into total celebration mode for making a 4 yard run for a first down or making a sack. Scoreboard baby.

I think this needs to be more like taking your helmet off on the field. players can celebrate with teammates but I dont like the posing, pointing they got a first down, and other things

In the 3rd quarter they were playing reserves...I can give 'em a pass

I get the not celebrating every play thing but I'd like them to have some fun and trash talk a little. Not sure if people have already forgotten how Matt Vandeberg celebrated every 1st down by pointing. But he did that to honor his HS teammate that died because that was something the teammate did.

To me the people that don't want players celebrating after plays are no different than the blue hairs at basketball games that refuse to stand up and make Carver a tough atmosphere to play in. College sports is in theory about playing for fun so bragging rights/trash talking/celebrating is what that's about.

Do you the difference between theory and reality?

So how many kids playing college sports do it because they don't have fun or enjoy the competition or playing? Maybe 5 or 10 % only play for the benefits. Even the ones getting money under the table I would say enjoy playing the game. Again my point stands to let the kids have fun and celebrate. If your upset about it then either keep them from making a play or get better players to keep them from making a play.

I will respectfully disagree, you can play hard, clean and have fun while doing it with class. I remember a guy named Tim Dwight who demonstrated that this is possible.
I'm not in a position to keep them from making plays, and I have no recruiting power. I'm just an old fan, all I can do is quit watching, hopefully I'll watch one more game this season and not just the first quarter.

Happy new year.

Could not agree more. Particularly in the NFL every play is followed by posing, antics or action as if they had just conquered the world. Hey, meathead, you made a play. Now get up and get ready to make another one.

Yes! I thought I was the only one who noticed. My gawd, a player makes a routine tackle and jumps up, starts pounding his chest, pointing to the sky like he's God's favored child.... friggin ridiculous.

The stuff that goes on today is nothing compared to the showboating , celebrating and trash talking the Miami teams did back in the eighties and nineties.

Gosh, those guys that played before the 90s must have really hated the game. How could they possibly have had fun without pointing, beating their chest, etc after making a routine play?
